I started watching this and then had to stop because I was afraid you'd ruin the fun of this game for me and I'm still playing it. It's FUN. That is my only criteria for games.

That is an amazing question! I played Vampire survivors, and deleted it because part of my brain "understood it was stupid". But I couldn't formulate the fundamental question you raise here. I think it's really really interesting. I've written pseudo-fair-feeling-random algorithms for games, and so I know how this is done. But the question of "When is it ok" is really really interesting. In some sense all games are "a waste of time you're tricked to pay for", but it's fun?... But is it supposed to be somehow transcendent "good"? I don't know... It's such an amazing question. I love that you asked this. I'm going out to ask my discus this with my smartest friends! Thank you.
