It's mostly secondary creation, so I can't do the colors of the clothes as I want..But saturation could be the answer. I'll have to pay attention to the next drawing

The stark shadows are a good way to create contrast. Since the skin color is light, dark clothes can contrast if a lot of skin is showing. If the characters were undressed, the purple puppet strings could contrast against bare skin. Also, even if there are similar color hues, you can use differences in saturation.
