I think I rewrote that first panel like... 5 or 6 times. Mostly trying to make the dialogue feel natural despite Karen not being able to speak. When I planned this I intended for Karen to speak more clearly, but I forgot about that detail while drawing it and had to course correct, since it's easier to fix dialogue...

One of the weird things about this chapter is figuring out the slang the characters would speak. I wanted the dialogue to still feel natural, so everyone speaks roughly in modern vernacular, but you get things where someone might have said "slut" replaced with "vixen"

Most of the characters in BCC shave their crotches, not necessarily for any story reasons, but mostly because it's faster to draw. But that wasn't really something barely anyone did in the 1920's, so even Bianca actually has some crotch hair during this story.
