I do believe doctors are referring to Long-Haul Lyme instead and that’s where the research lies. As someone with Lyme and has done a good amount of research, I have NEVER heard of people getting Lyme without a tick bite unless passed in utero. I have heard that you don’t have to have a bullseye rash for it to be a Lyme tick. There is also a lot of research showing that Lyme has reached almost every continent, not just the NE. My husband got it here in Texas last year and got rid of it with antibiotics. Celebs for sure milk Lyme for all they can and honestly cast a very bad light for people truly suffering. I think it could be a new buzzword to hide drug use. Ex. Exhaustion. It makes me sad as someone has had Lyme show up on my blood work for the last 7 years and has wrecked my life that the outliers have become the standard. Real medicine shows that long-haul lyme is real but people run with it and make it sound like crystals and blood-letting helps. Sometimes just believing you’re getting better helps and people pass it off as truth. Causation ≠ correlation.

Enty was talking about Ehlors Danlos, being a new lyme. I have the most mild version, which is joint hyper mobility syndrome. Basically all the collagen in my body is deficient, so all my ligaments are weakened. Collagen is a major protein in a body, effects lots o body processes, so even mildly, it’s chronic asf even tho you look normal from the outside.

this is just one reason I love this podcast - I have several chronic illnesses that most doctors have no clue about. I have also had Lyme because I live in the northeast….(Ive accidentally become a tick/Lyme expert bc most ppl I know have had it lol) but as someone who struggles so many chronic health conditions….I really appreciated the care in which Shannon and Cam talked about this!! I usually shut things off when any health stuff comes up but I trust these two and was almost relieved to hear them talk about the topic while being thoughtful of those that do suffer from chronic conditions. I do know that once you have Lyme, you always “have it” but it goes dormant - sometimes another viral infection OR another tick bite could “revive” it - it’s a neurological disorder that we don’t know much about outside of the typical acute cases. I think Shannon’s theory is on to something 💛

You're not ass people. We get comfortable with people we work with and act foolish sometimes. We're all guilty of that. The only thing that's come out about Lizzo that I thought was really mean was that she had her dancers do interviews and they were really personal interviews and they ended up on a show/doc without their consent. I'll look for the link and put it here because I can't quite remember the specifics.

I’m a huge Lizzo girl. But currently I’m standing with the alleged victims (I’m an employment attorney so I may have a skewed view). I’d prefer to look like an idiot for believing the victims than an asshole who believes an alleged abuser. I’d rather have pie on my face. But I think a missing part of the conversation is that there is a different power dynamic because the dancers are plus size and less likely to get jobs in the industry so there’s a fear and indebtedness to Lizzo that might not exist with say Ariana Grande.
