Hi Shannon! New patron here. I have a theory on why the legal documents were placed on the table in the adidas Balenciaga ad (United States vs. Williams) I’ll fudge the legal jargon but i think it was Balenciaga foreshadowing their campaign with the kids and bondage. The case in the documents represented pandering of child abuse material not the actual illegal material itself. Much like balaenciagas infamous campaign it didn’t break any laws but it disturbingly pandered to the idea of child sexual abuse. To me placing the documents in plain sight was as if to say see we aren’t breaking laws but we are suggesting something horrendous… which is so fucked up

As a wiccan with Satanist friends, I think the obsession with satanism in crimes is more about unsettling victims. A lot of people feel unsettled by a pentagram but it's a symbol of protection in wiccan circles. Actual Satanists sue for abortion rights and fight against religious persecution. Sometimes there will be like a red candle at the scene of a crime and people will claim satanic influence. But in the case that someone was trying to hurt or control someone, making them question their reality by bringing up "demonic" or "satanic" symbols. This would be especially unfortunate on children who have trouble distinguishing reality (there's a documentary about a (now adult) little girl who's neighbor convinced her aliens wanted him to SA her). There's also a chance that some of the people doing these horrible things would experience delusions. It's also possible they identify with demons because what they do is monstrous. All this is to say, I think the obsession with satanism being the root of all evil is more about capturing evangelicals into conspiracy theories than actual fact. In the few instances where satanism or ritual is connected to a crime I think it's more about the perpetrator than the actual practices of people who are spritual. Just my two cents.

THANK YOU GUYS for addressing the satanism of it all! I get really riled up when I see TikToks that allude to satanic rituals (like Doja Cat lately) as if it’s fact, but then when I put in into perspective of my own beliefs (spiritual/Buddhist/Taoist) or my Hindu or Jewish or Muslim friends, the theories fall apart. I’m starting to think EVERY satanic claim is Christianity-centric, or the ‘rituals’ are from a lens of people rejecting Christianity.

I am pretty skeptical about Fiona's account. At face value, it sounds too elaborate to make up, but lies are usually more elaborate than the truth. People think adding in a lot of detail legitimatizes their story. It also sounds like things a very mentally ill family member of mine (who was a CSA survivor) made up. It resembles a lot of satanic panic stories as well (e.g. the book Michelle Remembers), which IMO are not true. Was Fiona possibly a client/patient of him? I air on the side of supporting victims almost always, but something about this doesn't sit right.

The Stanford prison experiment was debunked, a lot of volunteers saying they faked their distress and that the guards were coached by professor Zimbardo, so the cruelty from the guards was not spontaneous. I think it still shows how easy people are controlled though. There’s another experiment that’s similar, Stanley Milgram shock experiment where participants were told to shock another person if they got an answer incorrect (who was really an actor pretending to be shocked) and even when these people seemed to be distressed, most people would still deliver the shock when told to by the experimenter.

I’m like at 7 minutes but regardless if you think rituals are satanic, rituals were invented to bring people closer together, especially because rituals are supposed to be “secret” and a thing only the people “in the group” know about. Which allows for things to get fucking weird. Obviously if the ritual he was doing was gross/violent/weird he has a poor values and it was probably a way to get other people in on his depravity. But like even sororities and fraternities have secret rituals but they’re not scary, but they can be weird lol
