I've missed everyone on Patreon and as I've been doing my social media cleanse/exercises on burnout I've been gathering so much to share with you guys for an episode when I return. Musings on social media and the internet and just how many of us I feel are burned out and how the advice of 'self care' when it comes to burnout is all wrong and....such. Also I am only getting hints of pop culture through Xander and my friends and apparently Trump used Taylor Swift AI to endorse him (I can't believe that's real hahaha) and Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson broke up, but then they didn't and Bennifer is in fact divorcing (the least surprising of all the news).

I’d love to see an episode about cancellation. Has cancel culture actually improved anything? There’s no levels to cancellation. I think it’s dangerous to simply “cancel” all people in the same way when there’s a huge difference between old tweets made as a teenager vs SA or something illegal but it seems like it’s just cancellation all the same.

Would love to hear your take on the new expectations that celebs and influencers should speak up on key political issues affecting the world and if they don’t their silence is considered confirmation of their support/ opposition to something. It sounds like a loaded question but I’m genuinely curious of your POV as a podcaster. Do you think it’s an unfair expectation that normal everyday people are not held to or do you think it comes with the job and people with platforms should be using it to spread awareness. With that where do we draw the line between a pop star and an activist for example. Maybe some pop stars do want to take on the role of an activist too but maybe some don’t and is it unfair to force them into it.

I’m curious if you’ve heard of The Satanic Temple “religion”. They are a front for religion and it’s basically all satire but they do some really amazing things for the community and fight for some super interesting things. It’s so funny because they challenge a lot of church & state cross over (ex there was a gov building that had a statue of the 10 commandments out front and they proposed a statue of a satanic symbol bc ya know equality and the Christian’s were so horrified that they just took down the 10 commandments statue lol). They also have an “abortion ritual” as one of their religious practices and the point there is that satanists have a religious right to abortion. Idk it’s all very interesting and it’s one hell of a rabbit hole! There’s a doc on Hulu called “Hail Satan?” That covers some of the drama it’s so entertaining. Hope your break was relaxing :)

Some of my favourite episodes are when you’re talking about tech bro billionaire tea! IMO they’re messier and have crazier scandals than regular celebrities, but they’re just able to get away with more because they’re often seen as nerdy. I would love for you to one of these days do a deep dive on these billionaires and the crazy shit they get up to. I.e., Zuckerberg’s transformation, Sergey Brin’s affair, Peter Thiel’s right wing bullshit, etc. Thanks!
