That was so funny omg,as others mentioned before, that was the special edition. I definitely recommend going back and watching that after finishing the show for some extra gay spice!

I have watched both and personally wouldn't recommend watching the special until you finished the main show. It was supposed to be a condensed version mainly focusing on Wei Wexian and Lan Zhan and was supposed to make it easier for international fans to understand the untamed 'world' but i found if i didn't already know the story , it wouldn't of made sense. There are a few scenes that have been extended or from different angles but it really is more for just a re-watch once you know the story to get you fix of them again :)

Since I know all the characters with their multiple names can be confusing, especially with the subtitles you are watching now, I hope you noticed that the little brother in red Wen Ning (the guy that practices archery in this episode) is the same guy that was summoned as a zombie by Wei Wuxian in the present timeline to fight the stone statue with his chains in episode 2? There he was introduced as Ghost General Wen Ning.

There are actually very few very short additional scenes, but nothing major. But you can't really get the story from those since its basically just the WangXian moments.

The special edition is specially designed for foreign fans for a better integration and understanding of the series. This edition focuses more on Lan Wang Ji and his emotions towards Wei Wu Xian. But there are no new scenes, just a big summary of the drama by omitting quite a bit of passage

Just fyi the special version is a condensed slightly more bl version of the show. It only has 20 episodes, which is why the plot as so far progressed in episode 4. :)
