Space Seed is the basic requirement to be sure but to get the most impact I would want more episodes to develop Kirk and Spock. Admittedly I was raised in the original series so maybe I’m biased. Hell, I even like the first movie but after that it’s generally only the even movies that are good.

The 1956 version is excellent and certainly worth watching. But yea 1978 is the iconic one people would more want to see reactions of.

In all honesty Star Trek is very episodic, so almost every episode is stand alone. All you need to understand the full nature of Wrath of Khan is the episode Space Seed, the only episode Kahn is in before the film.

I cannot emphasize strongly enough that Body Snatchers (1978) is the one you'd want to be watching, NOT the 50s version.

Yeah I want to jump into Star Trek but with never seeing the classic episodes or movies, I feel like we need to get some ground work done watching things to appreciate Wrath of Kahn to its fullest. What do you think?!

There’s a ton of great choices here... Although I think The Wrath of Kahn is top notch it really needs a few episodes of the original series to give it the appropriate gravitas.
