I appreciate The Big Lebowski and it is beloved, but it always hits me as a bit of a bro movie. Try Fargo, Raising Arizona, The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, No Country For Old Men and my favorite Barton Fink.
Neal Romanek
Early career Tom Hanks must-sees are Splash, Big and A League Of Their Own.
jc
The Mask (1994) Liar Liar (1997) Bruce Almighty (2003) Yes Man (2008) All JIm Carrey movies
Neal Romanek
Trading Place is a literal classic - directed by John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, Three Amigos, The Blues Brothers, etc)
Neal Romanek
And have you seen What We Do In The Shadows - the original film? Or Taika Waititi's other comedy masterpiece Jojo Rabbit?
Neal Romanek
Bowfinger is dynamite.
rik
Hey guys ive only just joined up to you, have you seen (see no evil hear no evil), with richard pryor and gene wilder, that is a fantasrtic comedy...
Mark M
since you just watched An American Werewolf in London i thought of another John Landis movie, 'Into The Night'(1985). It stars Jeff Goldblum(who you also recently watched in The Fly)and Michelle Pfefiffer. A few more; Midnight Run(1988) with Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin Stakeout(1987) with Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez Dirty Rotten Scoundrels(1988) with Steve Martin and Michael Caine Rushmore(1998) with Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray The next 2 have a similar feel if you enjoy black comedy/mystery/film noir. They are both from director/writer Shane Black who acted in the movie Predator as Hawkins, the guy who cracks all the jokes. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang(2005) with Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer The Nice Guys(2016) with Ryan Gosling and Russel Crowe.
Shaun2342!
That sucks, because if you watched it before Halloween you would realize you could easily be Maude and the Dude for Halloween. Pshhh

Haha! I think it's a clear winner! These polls are for November movies :) -Sam

We're torn because there's a handful of movies I haven't seen that TBR Schmitt does want to watch with me, but that's why we try to be transparent :) Comedies though I think are definitely an ok category for re-watches! Thank you for your suggestions! From your list, I've seen The Other Guys, Mars Attacks, The Heat and Spy! I'll have to check with TBR Schmitt on the other films :) -Sam
TBR Schmitt
We'll take all your suggestions! We have a big running list :) -Sam
Shaun2342!
I don't feel we need to wait three days for a lebowski react..
Tic Toc Melody
Gaaaaa, forget the Lebowski, go with RAISING ARIZONA! Damn Lebwoski! lol. (Raising Arizona and Fargo, those are the two Cohen Brothers movies I'm dying for you guys to see!) Could I suggest two super classics that are classified as comedy, but are probably more what used to be classified as comedy-drama. (Which is what life is really like, right?! :D). George Lucas' first hit was the amazing AMERICAN GRAFFITI (1973), a sort of teen comedy period piece that takes place in the early 60s, on the last night of summer. So many actors got their start in this movie, like Richard Dreyfus and Harrison Ford. (ALSO: In the 90s, the feat was repeated again with DAZED AND CONFUSED, another teen comedy period piece that takes place in 1976 on the last day of school! And again, so many actors got their start in this movie. They are almost like cousins, and you can see how much the culture changed in just 20 years by watching these two period pieces.) The other "comedy-drama" also from 1973: PAPER MOON. Oh my god, I love this movie. Tatum O'Neal got the Oscar for this at only 8 years old! Youngest Oscar winner ever. Great, great movie, total classic, one of my favorites and will be one of yours too. VERY lastly: Woody Allen made some of the greatest comedies ever, too many to list: Sleeper, Annie Hall, Zelig and Broadway Danny Rose are my faves. Not sure where the world is on "canceling" this guy's movies, but I always separate the artist from the work itself, and I couldn't remove those movies from my DNA any more than I could remove Beatles music from it! So....just throwing that out there! Anyways, great polls, and the greatest of channels!

Before Tom Hanks was the world famous actor we all know and love, you HAVE to see him in Bachelor Party!
Neal Romanek
If you're going old school, I'd suggest The Marx Bros' Duck Soup.
Neal Romanek
The original Odd Couple is dynamite
Gerald Corona
Ok. I'm going to go way back for some classic comedies. It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The Odd Couple. The Great Race. And some relatively newer ones, The Villain, staring Arnold (though I know you've moved on to Stallone) I'm Not Rapaport. High Fidelity.
Mr. Writhms
"Bowfinger" (1999) Eddie Murphy & Steve Martin "O' Brother Where Art Thou" (2000) My fav Coen Bros comedy.
PIG
That's an interesting suggestion.
Joe D. MacGuffinstuff
Oh ok I see it now, I'll probably watch that tonight after work! Thanks!
Lee
Sorry, one more suggestion as you’ve seen my other one. The Great Dictator (1940) starring Charlie Chaplin. One of the greatest comedies/satires of all time with an important message in a scary time in world history.
Uncle 'Traveling' Matt
Personally, I think it would be nice if we could work through the films that neither of you have seen before getting to the ones that only one of you haven't seen. Perhaps I'm alone in that desire, though, I'm not sure! Anyhow, here's some comedy recommendations: - The Other Guys (2010) - Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg. - Get Shorty (1995) - John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Danny DeVito. - Mars Attacks (1996) - Too many stars to list (Tim Burton film!) - Fantastic Mr Fox (2009) - Wes Anderson claymation film! - Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) - Bill Murray + so many others (Wes Anderson again!) - The Heat (2013) - Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. - Spy (2015) - Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham (in his best role of all time!)
Michael Soukup
Give a ‘heads up’ if you want any pre 1990 titles—or especially “classic” Hollywood era titles. Those are my favorites and am happy to pass along any.
TBR Schmitt
Love Beetlejuice! I have't see the rest! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
Thank you for the recommendations! The only one on that list I've seen is Step Brothers! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
Thank you for the recommendations! I LOVE Uncle Buck! Would love to watch it with TBR Schmitt! -Sam

Prach on Brother. Preach on
TBR Schmitt
Yes! So we actually did it last year! When we got the strike on Airplane, we took it down out of caution (same company), but we are going to re-upload in November for Thanksgiving :) -Sam
TBR Schmitt
TBR Schmitt agrees! I'm excited to get to it! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
TBR Schmitt did Airplane and it got a copyright strike for the channel :( I think the full length is still on Patreon! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
Yes! It is on the list, but didn't quite make the poll. I'll keep this is in mind for the next poll :) We haven't done any Anime on the channel yet, but we'd like to! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
We haven't done Raising Arizona yet! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
Wow that cast! Thank you for the recommendation! So many actors we'd love to explore! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
Haha! We can't wait to watch them all! -Sam
TBR Schmitt
We'll try to get to them all! -Sam

Yes! Worked at a corporate office job since I graduated college :) This sounds like it's going to be awesome! -Sam

Awesome! It looks like we have a ton of comedies to get into! -Sam

O Brother Where Art Thou Beetlejuice Three Amigos Major League Fast Times At Ridgemont High Stripes Crocodile Dundee Trading Places
Neal Romanek
Still voting for it though.
Neal Romanek
The Big Lebowski is great, but it's not my favorite Coen Bros. I'm much more a Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy guy.
Neal Romanek
Oh, yeah. That's a great one too. Can we do a Steve Martin-fest - like the Arnold-fest?
PIG
Sideways (2004) Burn After Reading (2008) Step Brothers (2008) Borat (2006) Bad Trip (2020)
Neal Romanek
That's a great one. Not Steve Martin's best (that would be The Jerk and LA Story) but really really good.

"Better Off Dead" (1985) starring John Cusack "Her Alibi" (1989) starring Tom Selleck "Stir Crazy" (1980) starring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor "Uncle Buck" (1989) starring John Candy "Night Shift" (1982) starring Michael Keaton and Henry Winkler "The 'Burbs" (1989) starring Tom Hanks

Planes, trains and automobiles is one you should add to the list. Stars Steve Martin and John Candy, an 80’s classic!
Nick of Time
It really is. Rewatched it myself a while back and I was laughing so hard I was crying. Forgot how f*cking hilarious that movie is.
Nick of Time
Big Lebowski is as much a comedy as any Coen Brothers movie. It’s not comprised of jokes, but funny characters getting into extreme situations.
Nick of Time
Office Space is certainly great, but it’s a hundred times better if you’ve ever worked in an office. Has Sam?
Aaron Barlow
Tropic Thunder hands down. A genius comedy!
Joe D. MacGuffinstuff
Airplane!
bosho11
Also, seeing as how much you both like Galaxy Quest, you should throw Three Amigos into your next comedy poll. How do you two feel about an Anime (Japanese specifically) poll? I can think of over half a dozen movies you'd love based on your reactions to other movies so far.
Joe D. MacGuffinstuff
Raising Arizona is my favorite Coens movie, and my favorite Nick Cage movie. I voted for Python but they're two totally different types of comedy, quirky genius vs absolute absurdity 😆
bosho11
Big Lebowski hands down, on any poll. All the other options are really, really good too. All worth a watch. Did you two do Raising Arizona yet?

Parenthood!! Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, Diane Wiest, Joaquin Phoenix. Directed by Ron Howard. You won’t regret it.
Joe D. MacGuffinstuff
Ooh, chose one, tough choice between the top two here... I picked the one that's my favorite of the films made by one set of filmmakers, over my second favorite from the other set of filmmakers, whose catalog you definitely need to go through, those guys are still making incredible movies etc. Oh but the third in ranking now is also great. Just watch them all, you won't be disappointed and neither will we.
Jimmie V
Big Lebowski is barely a comedy. You're gonna regret not watching Wayne's world.
Renee S
Can't wait for you to do Office Space at some point!
Arya Amirsoleimani
The Coen Brothers make the best comedies. Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Burn After Reading, Fargo, and A Serious Man are all amazing
