Con Air (1997) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Jason Mangen

Well the only 2 u realistic things I saw in this was Cages haircut when he was in the Rangers and the depiction of the plane taking forever to land. The C130 air craft can land and take off on a postage stamp. Yup. The only 2 unrealistic things for sure.

Donna Castellano

I finally got around to catching up with your full reactions, so this comment is waaaay late. I saw this movie 4 times in the theatre with my older sister, we loved this movie so much. We did the same thing with The Rock too. It's definitely an experience in a theatre full of people.

Philip Davetas

Around the same time John Cusack made another little action flick called GROSSE POINT BLANK. Not sure how everyone else feels about it, but it's great.

David Martin

Here's a vote for The Grifters, not just for Cusack but Annette Bening and Anjelica Huston.

Scott Kerr

It's actually an Unrated Extended Version

Opie Wan

Can't recall John Malkovich as the main villain in many movies other than this one, Clint Eastwood's In the Line of Fire, and Mat Damon's Rounders. He was also great in Burn after Reading with Brad Pitt and Francis McDormand but not exactly a villain. Best John Cusack for me was Grifters which I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Michael G. Munz

Why couldn't he put the bunny back in the box?

TBR Schmitt

Aww this makes me so happy! Thank you and thank you for the recommendations! -Sam

olly.enn

Not going to get tired of recommending Cage in Martin Scorsese's "Bringing out the Dead"! :-P

James

you guys need to watch The Family Man with Nic Cage. Its basically a remake if Its a Wonderful Life

Didi Portia

What a great reaction to a great movie! John Malkovich was awesome as Cyrus The Virus. Nicholas Cage as Cameron Poe was a great hero. Driven, genuine and always wanting to do the right thing. Quick recommend: "Rounders" with John Malkovich. ( :E

My brother loves watching you guys on YT (but only I am a Patreon, bwahaha) and he's honestly been wondering for like a year when you guys were going to watch Con Air, so when I told him you would this week it made him very happy. It's a bit over the top for me but it's definitely a fun film and you always gotta love Steve. As always, great reaction! ❀️ So I wanted to leave my movie recommendations of these actors for you guys: for John Malkovich I completely recommend Burn After Reading (2008) by the Coen Brothers and a magnificent cast. As other people have suggested Being John Malkovich (1999) which also has John Cusack in it, and my personal favourite of Malkovich is Empire of the Sun (1987) with Joe Pantoliano and a very baby Christian Bale! For Nicholas Cage I recommend Adaptation (2002) which also has Meryl Streep as always being amazing (and small glimpses of John Malkovich and John Cusack too, directed by Spike Jonze who also directed Being John Malkovich, the movies are connected but you don't have to watch one to understand the other). And for John Cusack I'd recommend 1408 (2007) with Sam Jackson, based on a Stephen King novel. Those are my picks. 😎

Reed James

Also, there is Being John Malcovich where a guy discovers a door that opens up into John Malcovich's head and you get to be him. Also written by Charlie Kaufman.

Reed James

Want a crazy Nic Cage movie. Try Adaptation where he plays screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (who wrote the film) hired to adapt a novel called the Orchid Thief (a real novel) and his descent into madness that mirrors Charlie Kaufman (the real one) attempt to adapt Orchid Thief into a movie. It's a surreal movie.

Michael Chavira

Rounders would be great movie to watch John Malkovich act in. And you should definitely watch Being John Malkovich. It also has John Cusack in it as well. "Malkovich, Malkovich...Malkovich. Malkovich, Malkovich. Malkovich" ;)

Tristan Durant

Daniel: β€œHis friend reminds me of Bubba from Forest Gump.” Me: β€œOh, does he?” πŸ€”πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ 🀣🀣🀣🀣 Mykelti Williamson (good actor and directed a lot of tv series.) You should check out Fences w/Denzel Washington & Viola Davis if you haven’t.

Ed R

John Malkovich plays a great villain in Rounders.

Mike Adams

My favorite Cusack movie, by far, is Grosse Pointe Blank. Definitely recommend adding that to your list. It has like 3 other Cusacks in it.

TBR Schmitt

Oh that makes more sense πŸ˜‚ my bad! -Sam

Alex

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about Steve Buscemi's character.

Mike the Ginger

In the last three weeks, I've watched the full reactions of Armageddon, Three Men and a Baby, American Pie and now Con Air. It's awesome to watch along with you guys. Keep it up! Oh I concur about "In the Line of Fire" (1993). Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich.

TBR Schmitt

Great, thank you Mark! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

That would be a wild twist of him just not having a family to come home to! Thanks for clarifying that haha Sounded kind of crazy! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL the most Michael Bay, not Michael Bay film! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Excited to get some John Travolta on the channel! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Definitely on our list! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I didn't realize there were multiple versions on this one! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

LOL Daniel was thinking about that the whole movie, I just know it! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Awesome, thank you! Looks like In the Line of Fire is a popular recommendation! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

The name looked familiar but I couldn't place it! At least we've made it through a good number of these already :) -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thank you for the recommendation! This cast sounds awesome! -Sam

Mark M

I'll suggest Of Mice and Men as another great John Malkovich performance.

Alex

In the Line of Fire has John Malkovich as the villain and is an amazing movie and is also with Clint Eastwood as the main star.

Alex

This is one of my favorite movies and I dunno why but I could have sworn the little girl wasn't real. I could have sworn like they showed them once and only he was there. He is crazy after all. but maybe not. IDK. The whole thing about "you are military trained the law doesn't apply to you the same way" I'm pretty sure is not a thing and just made up for the movie. And I know 99% of the time that someone says their hands are considered lethal weapons it's all just showing off/bragging and not really true. I dunno if it's actually a real thing. Lethal force is lethal force no matter how it's applied. But it was self-defense and he shouldn't have been in jail and I don't believe he would have gotten convicted of murder in real life.

-So Simon, first time director eh? How's your vision? Michael Bay. -You got the gig kid.

Ido Gordin

A highly recommended movie with Nic Cage is Face Off (1997) also with John Travolta

Odd Thomas

The poor cousin of the Nic Cage action trilogy. Face/Off is where it's at.

Scott Kerr

I like the Director's Cut version of this film. "I like black cherry jello." - quote from that version.

Vwlss Nvwls

FYI... Poe's friend was Bubba in Forrest Gump.

David Crabtree

Great reaction to a great movie! Some John Malkovich picks: The Man In the Iron Mask (1998), Of Mice & Men (1992), In the Line of Fire (1993, Malkovich AND Clint Eastwood).

Philip Davetas

A lot of plot would be avoided if homie put the bunny back in the box.

Ian

Put the bunny back in the box πŸ™‚

Future Boy

After The Rock and Con Air, I'd love to see a "serious" Nic Cage film next. My first choice would be Bringing Out the Dead (1999). In my opinion, a very underrated Martin Scorsese film. Very dark, with strong Taxi Driver vibes. And a great cast: John Goodman, Patricia Arquette, Ving Rhames, Tom Sizemore, Aida Turturro (Janice from Sopranos).

Florian Meier

I love Beverly Hills Cop :)

Florian Meier

Yes !!! Rounders is fantastic !!! So "In The Line of Fire", "Rounders", "Being John Malkovich", "RED", "Empire of the Sun", "The Killing Fields", "Jennifer 8" .... He had so many great Performances !!!!

Ellie Miller

I guess people don't know who Jerry Bruckheimer is these days. In the 80s he produced Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop and then in the 90s, a summer Jerry Bruckheimer movie was always a big event. 1995 - Bad Boys and Crimson Tide, 1996 - The Rock, 1997 - Con Air, 1998 - Enemy of the State and Armageddon. Then he did the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in the early 2000s. He had a knack for putting unusual actors in these big action movies. Nicolas Cage was more like Joaquin Phoenix back then and people really doubted he could star in this kind of movie. Johnny Depp was mostly Tim Burton's guy and then Bruckheimer put him in Pirates.

Ellie Miller

In the Line of Fire and Malkovich in it is fantastic! Malkovich is also legendary in Rounders with Matt Damon and Edward Norton

Florian Meier

Yay!! :) After this i strongly Recommend "In The Line of Fire" with Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich !!! One of the greatest Action Thriller of All Time, and a Oscar Nomination Performance from John Malkovich
