Friendship is hilarious.

Not related to this episode but Brett and Adam should try get Jennifer Jason Leigh on the show. She’d be a perfect guest imo.

How Bret feels about the Z Channel, and how it shaped his taste in movies in the formative years of his life, is exactly how I feel about the Pirate Bay

I wish Bret would do the audiobook for all his books. Or someone use ai to do it haha

C’mon Bret! You’re sleeping on Eddington! And now Weapons! Both great with a crowd. Eddington especially interesting as a comedy litmus test.

The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane is the Scott Jacoby Bret should know better. It stars Jodie Foster Pre Taxi Driver and the French Candian production makes it a 70s yhriller much more explicit then any US TV Move by Barry Diller.

Scott Jacoby as Bad Ronald didn't move into his "neighbor's house" in the film, he's hidden by his mother in his own house because he killed a young, bully girl classmate. The stalking starts after his mother dies and a new family, with two daughters, moves in.

Bret and Scott might also want to check out The Mind Benders (1963) a British science fiction film with Dirk Bogarde experimenting with sensory deprivation. I’m sure it influenced Paddy Chayefsky when developing Altered States, which, BTW is being reissued by Criterion in 4K in October (with extras). Russell’s only true Hollywood movie finally receiving the recognition it deserves!

I recall my dad saying - in 1980, maybe 'The Elephant Man' wasn't appropriate for an 11 year old (he was right!)
