So that wraps up book 2.
🕑 Added 2024-07-10 23:02:19 +0000 UTCI wrestled a lot with this book. Unlike the first one, which came to me mostly fully formed in a dream, Book 2 was the answer to the question of "where does this go?" The ending changed multiple times, the first being because it was 2 books worth of content to make it make sense, then changed again when I didn't like the direction it was going, then changed again simply because my fingers sometimes are assholes and the story often shifts as I'm writing it.
I sat on this particular ending for a while before uploading it. I wanted the ending of Book 2 to shake things up, for both Colm and the world. I wanted the familiar setting to be turned on its ear and Colm to lose more of what makes him human.
Originally I had planned for 4 books, but with this ending a lot of that plan goes out the window—so we'll see how many I end up with. It might just be a trilogy, but I kind of doubt it.
I hope you are enjoying the ride as much as I am! Going to write some American Eldritch before I get started on book 3. I'll post the story question (cover jacket blurb) in a few days when I come up with it.

I love how this book ended and can’t wait for you to start book 3. I really like this ending because it opens Colm up to a lot more character growth. Especially with how he went from smart and limited in power to very powerful but without the experience to back him up. But that lack of experience adds more to how reckless he might be. But also throughout the next book will start to regain memories and balance out into strong and experienced. I’m also guessing losing his memories will make take him closer to apotheosis. (Side note I’m not great at putting thoughts to paper so hopefully this was understandable)

I don't know how I feel about the ending personally. I really liked this book, and the end fight was fantastic - but it sucks that he was reduced so much. That he lost so many memories, and who has become. It just feels like the character that we knew from both this book, and the previous one is gone now. All of those experiences, and who he is is now gone (unless those memories are able to be recovered.) Still, thank you for sharing this story, and I look forward to the rest of Colm's journey, and I hope that Ida and Alice make a comeback.
