🕑 Added 2025-07-28 17:33:48 +0000 UTCWe're back! Slight delay on this one that was caused by me reading through (and working on) The Timewise Tales, a novel I wrote and never finished back in 2011. I'm planning to put a few more words into that to try to get it ready for a Patreon-only release: it's early, flawed, but readable, and the main character arcs are basically done, it just needs to capstone, plus a little not-too-serious massaging.
Anyway, this is AGARES, ch 35-42, 22k words.

Joking around is generally a major part of flirting. I'm not an expert, but I think it also generally involves steadily escalating romantic/sexual undertones. Which could be as simple as talking more about those topics when the opportunity naturally arises. Mulligan probably shies away from having conversations like this at all, especially since he's had bad experiences when he tried in the past, like with the cat-ears girl in his hotel room (the issue there being that he brought up the subject in a very abrupt and jarring way, and was very disconnected from what the girl was actually feeling). So he jokes around, but always with "safe" topics, too afraid of his own feelings to intentionally escalate
