I don’t think it’s only an Asian thing. We were also taught to drink milk and eat dairy products to grow and strengthen our bones when we were kids in France (because it’s rich in calcium)

Asians with Milk and Growth... When i visited relatives in Hong Kong from the US always had the comments of oh my you drank a lot of milk growing up. There isnt that much milk available in HK back then
