Nerdy if you play the fallout games do 1,2,3,new vegas then 4 since you like old games theyre great to start with.

1950s culture never ended in Fallout, in their history it just stayed that way forever. Losing some few things like racism, and only super tech discovered in a few fields.

The bombs drop in the future but a future as if it was envisioned in the 50's, hence a lot of the 50's aesthetics. Many of the songs are also featuring heavily in the games.
