If I remember correct, Brando Sando was putting decent gay characters in a book by 2015

There are good reasons the author did the prelude and prologue the way he did. I think you will come to appreciate them.

I started this book three separate times before I stuck with it, so I understand your “not inviting” comment. So happy to experience the journey with you two!

I haven’t had a chance to watch this all the way through yet. I plan to within the next couple of hours, but if I don’t manage that, I’ll do it this evening. Either way, something to look forward to.

While I do love the Stormlight Archive, I will agree that the prelude/prologue/chapter 1 all being from different character POVs and at different points in time was a lot. I had to relisten to the start after feeling lost early into chapter 1. I think it was the lack of context for literally anything happening or what the story was trying to hook me on that confused me. Listening back through to chapter 1 again helped me acclimate to what BrandoSando was going to be throughing at me. Honestly I think this book has a rougher start than Gardens of the Moon, which is notoriously hard to get into. Speaking of which, you two should definitely consider reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen after you finish with Sanderson's works.

Lol 1000+ page fantasy tomes have a grand tradition of not being very inviting.
