I always imagined this chapter as Kaladin doing wild anime shit, plot armor in full effect, while everyone else were operating in reality. A lot of it doesn't make sense, but it's cool in a goofy, fun kind of way

To add to what the others are saying, the Alethi weren't interested in actually winning the war with the Parshendi. It became a game to the high princes, and the gem hearts became the prize.

Alethi had the European colonial mindset. Not curious, just wanting what the natives had. Many Alethi did not understand Gavillar wanting any kind of treaty.
