Ya Luffy was still trying to get over it himself, so he was really callous, I imagine some for his own sake.

This episode is just so awesome but also terrible to go through, especially when watching it for the first time. I don't think anybody foresees beforehand how serious this episode will be and therefore everybody is caught off guard. And because there are such serious moments in the show, it truly becomes epic.

i synced your footage with the netflix version, and there was no mid-credits/eyecatcher commercial break part lol

Yes, you can now watch the opening. Enjoy it, opening 6 starts epsiode 264, and you can't watch it. It only plays for 15 episodes and shows highlights of events that happen after we move on to opening 7 and 8. Around epsiode 300, you can go back and watch it! You can watch all of opening 7 from day 1, no spoilers in it. You're going to like that one, but it only plays for 5 episodes.

Ugh this episode is so good.

Thing is, it wouldn't have mattered if Luffy had started off the "right" way. They're ditching the Merry because it's broken. It's useless. Which is exactly how Usopp is feeling right now. He feels useless. He feels like the weakest person on the crew. All the things he's saying about the Merry are really things he feels about himself. He's scared that he can't measure up to his more powerful crewmates. And THEN you add in all the things that the Merry means to him, where it comes from, how they got it, etc. Just absolutely stellar writing.

Luffy knew that Usopp would blame himself for losing the money, and did his best to put a happy face on the situation to try and spare him. It was the wrong approach, Usopp needed to hear the truth. But it's Luffy's way.

Don't think Luffy ever HAD moments like this. He is a new captain after all. Of course hes gonna fuck up stuff like this... he has to learn it by experiencing.. It's so so sad.

This was the first episode of one piece where I truly understood why One Piece is considered one of the greatest animes of all time. Before this I genuinely enjoyed One Piece, I loved the crew and I thought it had some great moments troughout. But this episode was the moment where it truly stepped up big time. It's such a shift in tone and it truly surprised me because I didn't see it coming. The dialogue, the staging the voice acting, all incredible. I truly loved how this conflict was written, because it made sense. You understand why it escalated and it doesn't feel unnatural or exaggerated. This is the episode I truly fell in love with one piece

"Franky cant be that strong, or his crew would be a little bit stronger." The irony here is incredible, considering what Usopp is going throuigh
