I’m guessing his modified plagiarism is to either make it harder to identify (he can’t figure it out anymore, so he assumes nobody else will either), or because he’s “elaborating” (by removing words or making the grammar worse, oddly) to make the work “his own”.

Thank you for the ball rolling down the hill explanation for why thing acting in a completely erratic fashion wouldn't be an indicator of design, unlike the theist strange concept that without god forcing physics no patterns would exist. I've been trying to figure out how to put that thought into words succinctly, but haven't been able to. You ball explanation is perfect.
