Stair updates
🕑 Added 2019-05-31 18:44:39 +0000 UTCI got a lot of good feedback from the towne stairs release, and so I've been working to expand what is available for stairs. Further, there were models that towne had that dungeon stone didn't have and vice verse. With this update, I've done a huge update across the board to both stair sets to make what comes in a stair set standardized. The set is now super useful not just as stairs, but for broader elevation changes. The set now has every increment of a half an inch in both stairs and risers (2x1), and stairs, corners and risers (2x2). The 2x1 tiles make it possible to really create basically any possible layout of 90 degree elevation changes. As you can see in the photo, I'm printing a ton of the 2x1 tiles to give me plenty of options (I plan on printing what's pictured 4x). The updates have all been added to the original things in Thingiverse to prevent making it all more confusing.
- Dungeon Stone added 8 new stair models: Low platform 2x1 & 2x2, Medium Stairs 2x1 & 2x2, Medium Riser 2x1 & 2x2, Medium Corner 2x2, High Corner 2x2 (thingiverse). Iv'e also remove the half increments in dungeon stone, as no one appears to be using them. Their use case was limited honestly.
- Towne added 37 new stair models: A full set of ruined stucco. 2x1 tiles for all 7 sizes in all three (low) or five (medium & high) textures (thingiverse)

Let me know if that doesn't actually work well for you in practice. I can always go back and add them.

OH i get it! Never mind. strike this one from the record

They are rare enough in use I figured people could use the 2x1 stairs with the next size up 2x1 riser. That being said, if there's demand for it, I can also make those models.

could be! No worries, just trying to help out, happened to stumble upon these three things tonight.

actually its the opposite, sorry! my ramblings are confusing ha. The file is actually named "OpenForge 2.0 Towne Stairs (Internal Corners)" , i was wondering if that was correct, like are there external corner stairs?
Masterwork Tools
I tried renaming it and it didn't change the zip file name. I wonder if this is connected to their zip file cache problem from your first note.
Masterwork Tools
Weird, that's controlled by thingiverse. I see now that the file is named Towne Corners. I'm not entirely sure how to fix that. Thingiverse picks the zip file name, which in this case doesn't seem to align with the thing name. I'll file another thingiverse ticket. Thanks for the heads up

Oh, I see why you are noting that this might want internal corner in the name, because of the pillars as a convention. Ok, I'll think about what to do there. With most stairs I've seen other designers refer to these as just corners, so I followed the general community convention. I could see why that's confusing though. Lemme think through how I want to handle it.

No problem! I am pumped to get the new stairs!

sorry let me be more specific. The zip file downloads and is named open forge pillars correctly, but when you unzip the file the file inside is named the same as the towne corners folder. Not that big of a deal as long as one unzips in a different folder than the one that contains the real corner folder.

Ticket with Thingiverse filed, thanks!

Ok, this is really odd. They are saved on the thing, but aren't in the zip file when it downloads. I suspect Thingiverse is caching the zip file but not regenerating the download on save. I'll have to report it as a bug on thingiverse.

thingiverse as well
Masterwork Tools
dropbox or thingiverse? Sorry, trying to track these all down, but I'm not finding the issues in either place.
Masterwork Tools
Not sure I follow

on thingiverse

Dropbox or Thingiverse?
Justin Sinks
And the open forge 2.0 pillars file downloads as Towne Corners. Same name as the corners.
Justin Sinks
also are the open forge 2.0 Towne stairs supposed to have “(internal corner)” added to the file name?
Justin Sinks
Hey man, it looks like the photos for the new stairs show up in the preview but the files are not in the folder when downloading. This is the case for both sets.
