Piggy Sue and Lulu Too
🕑 Added 2024-09-03 02:26:55 +0000 UTCI'm tickled y'all enjoy how I draw food, it's one of my favorite things to draw! Decided to doodle up some comfort food from our favorite food service sows, my own Lulu and MustLoveFrogs' Piggy Sue!
Piggy Sue is a food truck entrepreneur who, in a dramatic twist…..can't actually cook for beans. Still, spunky Piggy Sue manages the daily operations of her business, 3 Griddle Pigs, and sells many a hot waffle sandwich to many a happy St. Charlies' citizen. Please don't ask me where the bacon came from, MustloveFrogs says that in her furry verse, real life animals exist alongside the sapient furry folk.
Lulu spent a solid two decades of her young life waitressing at a greasy spoon, and her prickly old boss/line cook Pops came to adore her so much he left the whole joint to Lulu when he retired. Using her meager life savings and a small investment from her wife Mona, she transformed it from a shabby old diner to a slick an' tricked out cajun kitchen. Lulu’s, as it is called, has become a local landmark. Come on in an’ try some face-meltingly spicy jambalaya, or pecan praline ice cream, or buttery beignets, or order the "Hog Trough"- a jumbo bucket of Nawlins-style crayfish boil you're encouraged to stick your whole snout in- or just grab the fried spicy shrimp po' boy she's offering! C'mon kids, put some south in yer mouth! N'aie pas peur!!

Yup, I believe it's visible on that one piece with Lulu giving Mona a milkshake. Just a simple red heart on her boob, nothing fancy. She got it when Tibbs was born

It's so interesting so see the different types of foods and how reflect the culture and everything. This looks so yummy, but also as someone with a soft stomach is like "If I eat this I'm probably going to have acid reflux or spend hours in the bathroom but worth it!" Actually that's how in our house knows if the buy food is good, if I'm good after eating that means it's a good place 😅 But it's also bad cuz because besides my baby tummy I'm also a "picky eater", but if the cook can make the horrible smells and taste of the things I don't like go away, I'm totally going to eat it 👍 The way this two ladies look so proud of their food reminds me so much to my mom and dad, both are really good cooks, especially my mom in "typical Chilean food" things like pastel de choclo, pastel de papá, humitas, chalquican, porotos burros, etc are things that usually I HATE but she make them soooo good. And since it September, for a Chilean like me it mean "Fiestas Patrias", it's a big national celebration, it's like our independence day? It the 18 of September, but we celebrate ALL SEPTEMBER, theres many types of drinks, meat, empanadas, salad, etc. It's even bigger and more important that Christmas or New Year, many tourists visit in this time of year to be part of the celebration, and it's so good to go outside and feel in the air the delicious smell of food all September.

I've been thinking about it, and it could just be the 'Murica in me talking, but I think the key to drawing enticing food is EXCESS. You gotta go larger than life with it. You could draw a perfectly normal slice of cake, or you can draw a thick, rich slice absolutely overflowing with icing and toppings. Exaggerate size, go over the top. Make the cheese on pizza extra gooey! Stack a hamburger high with a fluffy bun and hefty patty entirely unlike the sad smushed burgers you get at fast food joints. Draw the waffles absolutely saturated in syrup, show that food is moist, juicy, dripping, picture-perfect. I've noticed even the notorious Ghibli food tends to be flawless and larger-than-life, with ridiculously thick cuts of bacon and bread. Just go ham with it (pun intended!)

I remember when I was little, I would watch Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with my grandma and get upset I didn’t have the money to tour the places Guy went to or the ingredients to make it myself. I got hangry, and this unlocked a memory for me because it made me feel the same way 😅
