So when are we getting a video where you buy that custom monitor?

Funny coincidence, It's the same day I've received my Odyssey Oled G9

I've had the same experience with AliExpress multiple times and even with PayPal disputes I've gotten unlucky and they usually sided with AliExpress. I did a similar project with an old 2011 iMac where I gutted the computer parts and added the lcd driver board and some usb cables to connect the webcam, sd card reader, and dvd drive (couldn't get the speakers or mic working), but with the iMac the lcd board was significantly cheaper, only like $30. I might have to try out an ultra wide screen sometime, I've previously dismissed it for the same reasons you did.

Excited to watch this one! I've been monitor browsing and feeling annoyed at the lack of taller aspect options so the timing is perfect.

Your patience and perseverance is admirable! Wading through the back-alleys to find niche hardware to make a very specific thing work is so much work, so unfortunate that it all fell apart like that.

i hate 16:9 i use a small 16:10 but still to tiny and a new monitor costs way to Much

Did you pay via credit card? This is a perfect opportunity for a chargeback.

I had the same experience with Ali Express Customer Service. I always pay via Paypal so I could open a case via Paypal which got me my Money back.

Funnily enough, The conclusion of this video is basically the exact inverse of what I ended up settling with lol. I basically don't ever use my computer for productivity, But (curved)ultra wide panels have a lot of downsides. If they aren't oled, 9/10 times, they're VA pannels, Which to my eyes has a really gross smearing effect, That makes everything they do look really bad. So I ended up settling for a 42" 16:9 phillips OLED monitor. Admittedly, I don't particularly need to multitask that much, And even when I do, usually alt tabbing is fine, But if I wanted to, I could set up tiling in such a way that I would functionally have 4 24" 16:9 1080p monitors lol ( And thanks to it being a huge OLED, I can also have it mimic basically any other aspect ratio I would want )

As always, amazing work. From someone who's thrown way more resources than I care to admit chasing down obscure solutions to perceived problems, this resonates with me. Keep up the good work!
