Valguris

It's not whether Saraca has a world item, but whether Sebas knows it. As far as Sebas knows, whoever brainwashed Shalltear is still somewhere around. What Sebas sees now is basically what Shalltear saw before she got brainwashed. Except Sebas has a little extra intel in the form of knowing they are powerful, can't be scryed and that brainwashing floor guardians is within the realm of possibilities. Charging headfirst without a plan for meeting someone more powerful is just stupid. Sebas (or any Nazarick denizen) should be more sensitive to such situations since LN3. At the very least I'd expect to see him consider this in his pov before deciding it's fine to rush in.

Noah Swan

While Ludmila is absolutely just going to get back up like nothing happened it could take anywhere from 2 minutes to a whole day for that to happen. If we go with a day the battle is going to be long over. But I'd laugh at Saraca being absolutely bewildered that Ludmila's body keeps reforming every couple minutes while she gives him a bored look as Saraca kills her for the 5th time. Anyways, regardless of Ludmila's resurrection mechanics the beastmen army is going to be in no state to continue into the draconic kingdom... while when Ludmila is up again she can portal in an entire even stronger army in an hour.

Noah Swan

Yeah... no way Saraca and company has a world item. You know... totally unique items for which it is theorized one was used to enforce the system on the entirety of the new world? In the game there were only 200 world items and Nazarick has 11 world items with the next closest guild have 3. If you then consider that each calamity is players being brought into the world and the odds of each player having a world item... that "Downfall of castle and country" just happened to be in a squad of theocracy who happened across shalltear is pure plot. Saraca being entire countries away in unknown lands where her could lose such an item? No way Saraca has a world item. Even if he did there's plenty of world items that actually wouldn't save Saraca's life or only inconvenience Sebas.

Mihkel

Just a moment to ponder about the feeling of duress/battlefield aura Ludmila has been putting out during the whole conflict. The beasts had a new experience of being hunted. Wherever they went, there's this "feeling of being hunted". When the harem king killed off Ludmila two things happened in that front. Every last being capable to feel off in Ludmillas care felt the world had gone off the rails. Second: the feeling of being hunted disappeared for furries. The hunter is dead. It's over. No matter what happens to all the forces gathered, there's chance to end things with the undead. In couple chapters the reverse will happen. Ludmila just nonchalantly stands up and the whole feeling of being hunted returns. Can't think any bigger demotivator. You managed to killl the thing causing the dredd and it just stands right up and continues to do its thing. I wouldn't put off the table idea that dying was in Ludmilas plans from beginning. She had to create conditions where Sebas has to react and level the big players for her. Until she is live and we'll there's no reason for Sebas to take the field.

Chriszy

Alright, so Sebas was holding the Queen the whole time until he landed on the opposite shore of the river. I will list the events in order again: •Sebas alighted/boarded the barge and rocked back and forth on the ship while holding the Queen. •Sebas dashed/leaped in the opposite direction of the Beastmen while on deck. •The barge flew down the highway from the river while Sebas leaped over the whole river. •And finally setting the Queen down once they're on the opposite shore of the river. Sorry for the long repile, but I'm really trying to understand how the event is happening exactly since English is not my first language. Anyway, love your work and I look forward to the next chapter! ❤️

Denva

Sebas dashed in the opposite direction of the Beastmen. The barge flew down the highway, smashing into the Beastmand column. It continued skidding along, greased by the strip of pulverised flesh it left in its wake. Mouth aghast, Queen Oriculus stared at the carnage with wide eyes. Noo it was not a thor kinda situation. Read again. What Sebas did was land on the boat. The beast man where, lets say coming from the south to the north. Sebas ran so fast to the direction of north that the boat was kicked to the opposite direction which is south, and flew to the beastman. Have you not seen those videos of cars suddenly going of and kicking the soil or debris back because of the momentum. You know Newton's law. Applying a force in a certain direction, will result in an equal force in the opposite direction.

Aeridinae Lunaris

It never said that he set the Queen down on the barge.

Chriszy

On a second read, I think you might be right. This still baffles me as to how Sebas stayed on the barge. I'm trying to comprehend this like Thor in the Marvel movies using his hammer to launch himself into the air. I don't remember what Countess Corelyn mentioned about how this works in the New World but I guess this is just how it works here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chriszy

This confuses me even more, I thought they both landed on the other side of the river? Author-sama please clarify! I feel like there is some details being skipped.

InsaneHyde

I saw it as Sebas landing on the deck of the barge. After forcefully rocking the ship, he dashed away from the charging beast man while staying on the deck. The force launched the ship out of the water and slides on land. They are riding the barge while it slides to a stop.

Chriszy

I'm struggling to understand about the part with the barge. So I will try to list out what was happening. Sebas was cradling the Queen when he was going towards the barge, then set her down on the barge. Then he picked up the Queen again and dashed/jump over the river, thus launching the barge toward the Beastmans. Is my understanding wrong?

Blarglesby

At the end of the chapter Sebas says, 'let us return to the battlefield.' Unless there's a typo he intends to bring the queen with him. I agree that if the queen does go with Sebas and is present there, any kind of diplomacy will have to start with her. His errand is only to retrieve SK property with a side objective of capture/kill all while protecting the queen. His previous POV already hinted that his focus is to make sure Drau is safe. And they're still under the assumption that all the invading beastmen in the field belong to Rol'en'gorek. Saraca's group meanwhile removed anything on them that distinguish them as foreigners and are under the assumption that everything they are fighting are undead. SK haven't confirmed what they are yet as the ones who saw them are defeated and their scouts can't get close. There might be a chance if either side start talking first. Maybe Sebas won't start with a dynamic entry and politely asks for SK property. Or maybe Saraca saw the flying boat from afar and assumed there's a calamity around and they leave before Sebas gets there.

Lol not that bad. I can still make it to work.

Valguris

Saraca's pov is gonna be epic! After he finally tracks down and kills the undead commander, he looks around. Saraca: "Where did our army disappear to?" Girika: “Y’know, every other time you say something like that, unbelievably stupid shit happens to the place in question.”

Valguris

Aww... Think how magnificent the puke rainbow would have been!

Aeridinae Lunaris

Pe Riyuro gathered 60,000 battle-ready Quagoa, but his first wave was 10,000+ after which he sent his elites(the Blue and Red Quagoa). Shalltear obliterated that first wave, then the elites. After that, Pe Riyuro ordered his soldiers to butcher the remainder of his people to meet the 10,000 requirement.

Right, my mistake.

She killed 50,000 .

“Shalltear had dispatched over ten thousand Quagoa in Feoh Berkana” Shouldn’t this be seventy thousand? Ten thousand was what remained of them afterwards.

Valguris

Yeah, my point is that we don't see any such countermeasures. Would be nice if we saw a hint of them. I suppose the SK army with all its eyewitnesses ready to call for help is such a countermeasure... They can't prevent brainwash followed by teleportation, but not much can be done about that. Having the queen move towards the powerful enemy party goes counter to common sense. I doubt diplomacy will happen before DK is fully liberated. Also note that Sebas received orders to capture or kill them, not negotiate. "Capture" probably involves sending them to Neuronist for interrogation, not to the queen for negotiations.

Aeridinae Lunaris

Haha, no. Mass doesn't matter when it comes to those interactions in Overlord.

Diego Jimenez

My hope is that the Queen will follow Sebas so she can do the actual diplomacy, since she probably knows enough about the central powers to identify Saraca's afilliation. And if Sebas wasn't given countermeasures for such an incident, SK deserves to fail again tbh. Ainz is cautious by nature, so he wouldn't allow that mistake again. Then again, this entire campaign may be happening without his knowledge beyond some skimmed-over reports.

Zarik0

Other side of the river who is? hundreds meter away? seem about "right" :P

Valguris

"Sebas dashed in the opposite direction of the Beastmen. The barge flew down the highway, smashing into the Beastmand column." Eh? You're introducing Newton's laws now? Given the mass of the barge, Sebas must have launched himself somewhere into Slane Theocracy to achieve this effect. :P

Valguris

Thanks for the chapter! I'm not sure if it's smart to leave the queen alone while powerful enemies of unknown identity and location are around. There's also something about a floor guardian running headfirst into a group of powerful enemies that reminds me of Shalltear incident from LN3. Are they prepared for that possibility or did it not occur to them?

Hussar L

“In the corner of his eye, the other group heading for the Queen drew close. More claws raked at his arms, legs, and back as he turned to address the threat. “Hhrolhr, dod–” The front half of the flanking group was rendered into a shower of gore.” - other group has to be Hhrolhr’s group sent to flank Sebas. Since Rana Saj said to dodge, Hhrolhr should be in the front half of the flanking group for word dodge to be applicable. Hence Hhrolhr was turned into red mist, that is, his existence in physical realm was terminated. No wonder Rana Saj, “first Tiger Lord” was so angry afterwards

Hussar L

“Rather than displaying relief, the Queen’s troubled expression only deepened.” Drau really doesn’t want to use Wild Magic, but she has to, and she thinks she will looking at the development of events before her eyes. Notice Drau’s mood lightened up considerably after finding out that Sebas is OP, and she doesn’t have to sacrifice poor Beastmens’ souls.

Nodon667

don't forget that a mayor factor is equipment and seeing as what the krokose rangers used was far better than what his ppl have im very confident that ludmilas equipment is far superior and she was using a defensive martial art so he has to be several time more powerful to cause that kind of damage regardless

Great chapter as always Thanks for all the hard work Poor ludmila I bet she was embarrassed when she first saw the "days since ludmila's last death" sign went up in her territory. We had a good streak going too.

Hussar L

Ilyshn’ish is Dragons’ Rights activist lol. Also part of Dragons Labor Union

Vladerag

I love this chapter. "It happens," lmao.

Diego Jimenez

In the end it will come down to what role Saraca has to play in the wider story. Will he be just another cannon fodder to show the overwhelming power of Ainz and SK like many povs in the original LN? Is he a plot device to reveal SK to the central powers and foreshadow future events like a massive punitive army to escalate the threats SK has to deal with after Slane and Evansha? Personally I'd like for him to be an outsider's pov to SK's current state and future potential from a worldly, well-informed observer, like a more experienced version of Winter Moon.

Wouldn’t he have to be lower as Ludmilla is likely around level 30? I think a level 60 could one shot a level 30 easily as even a difference of 10 levels makes the fight impossible.

Noah Swan

Since the elder lich asked for the recovery of a body I'm going to assume there is one. But if Ludmila's body dispersed on death to then reform later I wouldn't be at all surprised because that's how Revenants worked in at least one version of D&D which is what overlord was based on. Now I'm imaging Sebas kindly but firmly asking for Ludmila's body only for the beastmen to simply not have it. XD

Noah Swan

If I recall in cannon Sebas has enough finess to hit the jaw of a random 6 fingers gang member and drop them alive but unconscious. I know for a fact Sebas controlled his strength enough to pummel that fat magistrate? rapist with dozens of blows before the magistrate died.

Hussar L

You mean Laira?

Noah Swan

60s? That's Pleiades territory with Naberal who I think is level 62 or 63. Remember that every level is worth more than the last and thus the power scale isn't linear. Saraca doesn't need double Ludmila's level to one shot her. However, if Saraca can actually cause a single point of damage to Sebas then we'll know Saraca is over level 60 as level 100s seem to by default negate all damage from sources level 60 and below... unless they disable that perk.

I agree.

Thanks for the chapter.

Jaws2015

Ainz is moving conservatively. In the event they face another player, they need an experienced army to counter the country/nation the player has no doubt developed. Relying on "one trick" is a disaster waiting to happen. The Undead have "one trick" and the Beastman under Saraca have begun to exploit and countermand it. Yea, SK can escalate, but without knowing your opponent's capabilities that's simply playing all your cards, or at least more of them, allowing observers to draft increasingly accurate plans to counter you until they can decisively destroy you. Remember, the Art of War: the war is won before the first battle (iirc). Victors win the battle on paper before they engage. Conquerors win the war before they declare. Dude's vision is beyond this skirmish. Sasuga Ainz-Sama! *edit: spelling/punctuation **Ludmila ruminates on this in earlier chapters

Blarglesby

It sounds more like, 'Are you like me, a part dragon, or are you like my papapapa, a full blooded dragon?' As for her usefulness it could be related to the wild magic she has, so it would be at the end, perhaps to use beastmen souls to as batteries to restore the whole eastwatch population from Laira. If they aren't captured, Saraca and co. probably aren't resurrecting to give intel to the confederation.

I feel like a cocaine addict who is only allowed to get their fix every other day 😭

Hussar L

The moment Sebas unleashed bloody fireworks Drau realized she doesn’t need to use super expensive Wild Magic. Such assessment can change if she finds herself alone while Sebas goes for the fetch quest

Gopard

Thanks for the chapter!

Gopard

I fear from the attitudes they displayed that hatred and fear of "THE UNDEAD" is so great even in the central Nations that apart from Sebas knocking out every important beastmen and then "negotiating" afterwards they won't stop as it is! It will also be interesting whether Sebas is actually able to "control his strength" enough so as not to splatter every beastmen he touches into red mist, because... That would make negotiations a little hard afterward! ;) In the end this was a failure in diplomacy in the first place with the tactics the SK used in this battle! It was pretty clear that the "best" outcome would be diplomatic relations even BEYOND the Draconic Kingdom Hut the "general staff" completely disregarded that and went straight to the "we save the DK and slaughter every beastmen while giving them a illusion of possible victory to gain experience in large-scale-combat" they should have just gotten like 25 soul-eaters placed them in an encirclement and made it clear that extermination of ALL beastmen in DK is not the "only option this has to go!". Then everything would have gone much more in line with all objectives! (but that's the charm of the Overlord-universe I guess, the main faction has all the resources necessary for world-conquest even for one that is pretty peaceful all things concerned, just demonstrate overwhelming might once in a while, but paranoia and complete disregard for any "normal" goals that "natives" might have besically makes any "peaceful and positive" success by Nazarick impossible)

Zarik0

Now im very interested with Saraca Pov when he killed Ludmilla and start looking at her remain, don't forget that she is "exactly" like a human (hot blood and flesh) Im sure they will be puzzled a lot xD and think "wtf is this shit now, i dont understand at all..." And knowing now the fact Undead are Summon.... Lot of interesting deduction possible (know Slane have divine blood and etc sooooo) I don't think he cant leap his deduction now and think here that its Human here behind that (ask for divination of town far away and tadaa) Think next pov of him he will start link the piece or atleast though of the possibility And Sebas and Queen (Human) who appear at this moment :P So start negociation? or Sebas ignore most of it and start Capture as ordored You attacked first, so Surrender or etc or die (and negociation and Saraca going brigde for Rolenbek country can start later maybe)

Nodon667

now i'm curious about how strong exactly sacara will be with him not oneshoting ludmilla my guess would be in the 60s

lKutts

Let's hope it's the next 2 chapters and not a long POV shift.

Zarik0

Well "Capture them for interrogation, if possible. Destroy them if not." :PP So Capture first :P Man i cant wait for the next two chapter now, Saraca pov and Sebas meeting

Zarik0

Good point Deva with the Yiddrassil part as possible :P (im sure she was educated and learning about "them" and etc but the Dragon Lord) Well i liked the chapter a lot but the Queen seem a bit under here, what with the "i can/will fight" and blablabla "let me come too" Feel a bit off how she just a pain in the ass and do nothing and is total useless in the end, she wise and smart enough as seen before to not bother them (SK) for "just" come here and "play"/do nothing/be useless Well its not finished so i expect something out of her at some point soon, i will be a bit hugh in my view if not :P

Noah Swan

So much for Saraca avoiding Sebas' fists. On the bright side Saraca might only get beaten into a pulp instead of beaten to death if he meets Sebas.

lKutts

The only fault of this chapter is that it ends.

Vladimir Merritt

I read that as "Draconic line, as well?" As pertaining to her... meaning he is the same as her... Or perhaps... : the next step up from "like her" is a old school dragon lord... I do not think she is considering he is from yaggdrasill at all...

Denva

When you were fighting on the hill, it looked like there were ten of you. Are you from a Draconic line, as well? Or perhaps…” she was considering him being from yiggdrassil

Vladimir Merritt

Might be a stretch on my part... but I'm hoping that she is starting to see the "butler"/caretaker; As some hints about him maaaaybe being a dragon lord... oh what buetiful misunderstanding

Joe Bob

The vomit should be sparkly to emphasise how romantic it is

Diego Jimenez

I'm hoping the Queen was just stunned due to Sebas' extreme competence and will actually do something badass later, because right now she isn't painting the Dragon Lords in a good light, as pretty as the puke rainbow may be. Also Saraca: "Why do I hear boss music?"

Diego Jimenez

It was probably caught on Scrying Mirror too, so there's that.

Joe Bob

A handsome man gracefully paints a rainbow in the sky with vomit using a child as he very boatly paves a road with flesh like an oil pastel on paper. Amazing imagery. I'm morbidly curious what an artist's depiction would be like.

Vladimir Merritt

What... the vomit rainbow was not enough for you? That is the future play that's going to be performed on the Isles of Mombay!!!! That and sadly he is not proficient with weapons from the "tree" category... but he now should have a small proficiency in the "steel barge" weaponry... He is just one hell of a butler!!

Yomuashi

Okay, but actual useful comment. I'm interested to see how Sebas decides to deal with this issue. Maybe consecutive normal punches or something lol.

Vladimir Merritt

Gold

Damnnnnn. This chapter did not disappoint

Yomuashi

FIRST :) it had to be done no more second
