Albedo's Ahoge

a Human can’t be trusted any more than a Goblin. ... True that!

Rereading the story for the last weeks and i'm at Stone and Blood: Act 1, Chapter 1 I invite people to reread the beginning of this chapter, its exactly the 'same' scene as Stone and Blood: Act 2, Chapitre 5 that we get here, except its more on the Dwarve Pov and with some parts that we don't get in this chapter situation here (but its the same "scene" and happen at the same time) Reread and bing reading really help with some little things we can miss/forgot sometime :P

Aeridinae Lunaris

More like the Sorcerous Kingdom came out of nowhere. Decadent: how he perceives Florine's outfit. Lazy: Use of Undead. Imperious: Appearing out of nowhere and tell everyone else what they can and cannot do regardless of countless generations of doing things a certain way. Florine's reason for denying them their trade was basically 'because we said so'. You can put on those weird goggles that some people have about VS, but that's seriously crippling when it comes to interpreting what's going on in the story.

Dwarven beauty standards are different. They view humans like we view a race of Slendermen: anorexic hairless skeletons.

Aeridinae Lunaris

They're first mentioned in the Web Novel, but you see them pop up in KBA. Hill Dwarves are the 'default' Dwarf in western fantasy. In the NW setting of Overlord, they're Dwarves with Ranger affinities.

Yeah something is fishy, or atleast there is something else in their side :)

LilSaint001

I feel like they do sacrifices or something

“She’s got a fuckin’ bird on her head!” Falagrim shouted at them, “Work with that!” :PP Well with: ''Beyond that, a slave was far superior to any Undead labourer. Slaves were alive. They could scream, cry, suffer and die. Undead just did their thing until they fell apart, which wasn’t satisfying at all.'' ''Things were getting too convoluted and the expenses kept piling up. His suppliers only accepted slaves'' So yeah as the first mention of Dark Dwarve in this story and how they seem about only Slave and with high demand for it, i suspect they are a little something else about it in their society/social/civ, cultural practice? (they 'evil' in the Karma thing no?) or a need for them as they use them for some shit industry or etc, ritual, bloodmagic, sacrifice or stuff, enchant/tattoo or special things that they need to live or breed who need slave and maybes suffering or stuff doing with them, a karma 'evil' race have surely some quirk :)

Thanks for the chapter!

you're forgetting that they're not actually speaking the same language and things only get translated propperly if there is an equivalent so while you might like to say "Lord of Commerce" the tribes may hear something like "lord with boundless wealth" which just makes her seem like even more of a pretentious prick.

Valguris

Looks like the Dark Dwarves know the history of the region from before the Evil Gods. Are we going to get more glimpses into it?

Valguris

I imagine he's just prejudiced against humans, probably due to his past experiences (or even maybe just the stories about humans that were spread among the dwarves). His judgement comes way too quick for it to be a result of assessing Florine.

Luciaron

I feel like the SK merchant nobles need to think about advertising undead labor like they’re advertising leasing an army. What nation is going to take in another nations army and then come to rely on it? They’ve only done it so far by basically conquering the other nations first

Maakolo

Thats their impression of humans, not necessarily the truth.

Maakolo

Were Hill Dwarves ever mentioned in the main story? Are they basically just halflings?

Denva

Decadent, lazy, and insufferably imperious. Possessed of all the reckless impulsiveness of a short-lived race and just about as ugly as an Elf. It looked like the old accounts about Humans weren’t all too far off of the mark. This just came out of nowhere. It felt forced even like the author is trying to remind us about the behaviour of humans even when the context does't allow it . Frlorine didn't give off the impression his having. It will have been more believable if he was surprised she was working with other races because she is human.

Lost Boys

That bird nest line cracked me up. Interesting to learn more about the Dark Dwarves like their culture and history. Can’t wait for the Dark Dwarves to see their first Bear Daggie

🤔Maybe Florine & Co. wouldn't have so many issues if they distinguished themselves from the normal image of a "Lord". Something like "Lord of Commerce", "Administrative Lord" or similar. You could partition it into three Lord Subclasses. "Human Lord" aka Frontier Noble "Human Merchant Lord" e. g. Florine "Human Administrative Lord" e. g. rest of the Sorcerers Kingdom nobility not part of the squad. At least then (maybe) not every demi-human would call her/them a liar whenever they introduce themselves 😅
