So long as the chapter is dynamic use as much or little gore as you want. The same with the paragraphs in which he is tinkering; if you write chapters that are like 80% tinkering, your story could turn like "Brockton's Celestial Forge".

Nothing wrong with gore, though would rather see more of story than just entire paragraphs of dissecting bodies xD
