I’m gonna lose my regulation viewer and become a comment leaver for this. I’m an ex-nfl player, was on practice squads and active for 2 games my rookie year, Still play football in semi pro, taking a baseball is much easier to deal with, when you are truly tackled full speed by a linebacker(specially on who it is) you’re whole body is hit by a moving truck basically. Things shake and bones come out of sockets(2 broken ribs and an elbow out of socket). I’ve been hit by a fast ball it hurts yes, but the damage done to my whole body by being hit by someone full force was much more damaging. Anyone taking the tackle over is gonna hate it. I’d love to come help you all test this btw…

I picked tackle bc I was a catcher in baseball for years so I have been hit by pitches before a tackle would be something new at least. My friend that picked tackle had the exact same reason for spreading the damage over your entire body.

Honestly I think the big difference is where the baseball hits you. If it hits you on the wrist, then that's pretty much like hitting you directly on the bone. When guys in the Majors do break bones after being hit by pitches, it's usually the wrist or the elbow or somewhere with a similar lack of padding. But the way they described it in the episode kinda sounded like an intentional HBP, which are almost always aimed at a player's back. If that's the case, even if it's 100+ MPH fastball, I'm absolutely taking that as long as I get to wear it on the shoulder or ass or just somewhere with a lot of fat lmao. On zero days of the week am I letting anyone on an NFL defense tackle me. It's like volunteering to be in a car crash over taking a really bad punch on the arm.

That's my bad. I was going off of personal experience lol. I've been hit by football players and haven't broken a bone, it also hurts significantly less than hitting the concrete after trying to gap 9 stairs on a skateboard. And I've been hit with 3 fast balls and one of them broke my wrist

In high school I went against a football player in sumo. he hit me like it was the game winning sack. I went from "he's really fast" to waking up while being pulled out of the sumo suit. I'd take a baseball any day of the week, easily.

You’re also in full pads and have the ability to lower your shoulder and apply force back with the hit from the linebacker. That is seriously not that big of a deal, if you played American football at any level in your life you understand how much padding is present, sure it’s not gunna feel great but it’s literally one tackle, it’s not going to kill you. Chances are pretty good you walk away from that practically unscathed.

Been a regulation listens since fface ep 1. Breaking that to say anyone who takes a linebacker over a baseball is clinically insane. A baseball is going to bruise, a linebacker is going to shatter your ribs, concuss you, and might make you unconscious. Been hit by a baseball at low 90's in the arm, its just a bruise. An nfl linebacker would ruin you
