Never called it potatoast but this was a staple meal in Australia in the 90's/00' it was basically the only way to eat leftover mashed potatoes. Goes great with abit of tomato sauce or any other leftovers.

Very wholesome video! I would keep it simple like y'all did in the video, but change up the technique. I would use either a ricer or a fine mesh strainer to "mash" the potatoes then warm up cream, butter and finely minced roasted garlic together on the stove top. Then add the butter/cream mixture to the potatoes until it reaches the consistency of partially melted butter. Spread that on toast of your choosing with fried onions on top... I'm going to the store.

I've made a Thanksgiving sandwich before. Except I didn't have any leftover mashed potatoes, so I had to make those myself. At 3 in the morning. While cackling evilly. It was easily a top 10 sandwich.

The guys have stumbled upon the hot beef/turkey sandwich found at almost any Midwestern diner, just needs a protein and a ladle of gravy over top (served open face and eaten with a fork). Very fun to see them create from scratch something I thought was common. When Gavin mentioned gravy and Eric mentioned Thanksgiving I thought they were going to nail it first try.

I made a βcountry skilletβ that I copied from a restaurant and put some of it on toast. Itβs hash browns with sage sausage gravy and two eggs on top. The restaurant added cheddar cheese and grilled onions but I skipped that. I imagine it would still be good with mashed potatoes + fried onions instead of hash browns.

If you're going to dip it in gravy, go toast, fried onions, then mashed potatoes. That way you minify the amount that falls off during the dip. Or just drizzle the gravy on top. π
