In the debate of is a hot dog a sandwich the common line is about contents with bread on either side. Now I think we are all willing to allow it to be more of a bread surround like some of the optional "rolls" that are dug out or split and still call them a "hot dog". But WHAT THE HELL is Geoff doing choosing what is CLEARLY a wrap or a burrito with the Okie Dog? The waffle dog is basically a piece of fancy bread wrapped around the dog, that is FAR easier to justify than the tortilla is. Is Geoff quietly saying that he believes traditional burritos, tacos, etc are ALSO hot dogs? And by extension, that a burrito is a sandwich?

As a regulation West Virginian, my heart aches that they didn't go with a classic West Virginia Dog. It's one of the trash foods that we're practically known for. Chili, slaw, mustard, and onions. Can't go wrong. As a kid it was my favorite to chase with a scoop of Cookies and Cream ice cream.

My thoughts: Andrew: Classic dog and French vanilla is indeed a classic pairing nothing wrong here. Well deserved first picks. Everything bagel dog is a bad pick here and likely should have gone undrafted. It's more of an hors d'oeuvre served at parties. It still tastes fine but its bland and dry without a mustard to dip it in. I don't hate the cream pick though. It's not what I'd go for but it's one of the more unique flavors so kudos to him. Plus it's a sweet fruity flavor and would probably pair decently well with the salty bagel. Waffle dog is another dog pick I just don't get and would be very low on my draft board. It's just not a great combo. It's no fried chicken and waffles. Love the maple nut pairing though. In contention for the best pairing of the draft. Didn't know the Puka dog existed and that picture they shared had me salivating. Great pick selecting something truly unique and what a steal as a 4th dog. And I don't know what people were doing dogging on the cream pick here as banana is a tropical fruit just like the dog condiments, and seems like another really solid pairing. Dog score - 5/10 two great picks, 2 poor picks Cream score - 8/10 good picks and great variety Pairings score - 9/10 love the thought that went into the pairings Gavin: Italian dog is an odd first pick. If I'm having those toppings I'd rather just have an Italian sausage. Coffee cream is a nice pairing though even if I'm not a coffee guy. Redeemed himself with a solid fenway frank pick here. Fitting for Gav too with the picalilli and beans. I'm not on either side of the chocolate/vanilla debate. Both are legit flavors and can be done poorly or well. I'd generally lean toward plain vanilla but Jenis Darkest Chocolate is one of my favorite ice creams and chocolate frostys are dank too. Anyway I think it's a solid pick here and a fine pairing since it's a nice balance with the intensely flavored dog. Reindeer dog is an interesting pick and solid 3rd rounder. I like that it's a riff on the classic dog with mustard and onions but it's kind of confusing and contradictory that they went with the more natural stone ground mustard but the processed Coca-Cola onions. Nice christmas pairing with the peppermint stick cream even if I'm not a fan of mint cream. Love the red snapper pick 4th round. Best value dog pick of the draft. This is what I'd consider a classic dog even moreso than the classic. Just mustard, no overly sweet ketchup and the natural casing dog is supreme. Blundered the cream pick though. Already picked chocolate and chocolate ribbon is basically the same. Barely even adds texture. Needed to pick a vanilla here to round out his cream portfolio. Dog score - 8/10 nice job but Italian dog slightly holds it back Cream score - 6/10 solid picks but not quite enough variety and redundant chocolate & chocolate ribbon picks Pairings score - 8/10 they make sense can't find any major faults Nick: Chicago dog is a primo first round pick. Pineapple sherbet is a blunder first cream pick though, especially with so many better options left on the board. Pineapple is easily one of the best sherbet flavors but sherbet is just shittier ice cream and the pairing is kind of odd too as the dog has a lot of acid and there's the acidic pineapple. Would have made a lot more sense as a reprieve from a fattier, heavier dog, such as his next pick. The danger dog is another great pick. This dog has everything. Salty, spicy, fatty, sweet. Rocky road nut is a great cream pick although it is also indulgent like the dog so the pairing is just okay. Nick with another banger pick with the coney island dog. Chocolate chip is an okay flavor, but I appreciate he went with a vanilla base here though as he already had chocolate and fruit picks. Solid pairing. Finishing off with a solid take on the classic dog with the dodger dog. I just noticed Nick's dog picks got progressively simpler which is cool and he has great variety. Chocolate almond is a really good cream but it's so similar to rocky road. It's almost as bad as Gavin picking chocolate and chocolate ribbon. Dog score - 9/10 all bangers Cream score - 7/10 Appreciate the sherbet pick even though it is inferior. Having both rocky road and chocolate almond is a problem. Pairings - 6/10 they're fine but nothing special Geoff: Starts out very strong with the picks of cheese coney and vanilla burnt almond. Nothing else to say. The ripper is another take on the classic and you gotta have one in your draft. Chocolate fudge is also a solid pairing and Geoff already has both vanilla and chocolate flavors that are enhanced versions of the standard. Ideal start to his draft. Oki dog is a questionable pick here. Love that its Geoff and pastrami, but Geoff already has a dog with chili on it and this is literally 3 meats inside a tortilla. I like Geoff going fruit cream for varieties sake, but not with this pairing. Triple meat and lemon? Geoff was clearly in shambles with these picks but I think his New York System Weiner pick was fine, although it has meat sauce which is similar to chili. Strawberry is a good ice cream flavor too but the pairing seems like it would be just okay. Dog score - 6/10 Two great picks, two okay picks. Too much redundancy. Cream score - 8/10 First two picks were ideal, other two are still pretty good. Pairing score - 7/10 two perfect pairs, one okay, and one piss poor Eric Started out very strong with the Seattle dog and Vanilla. Spicy dog with the cool vanilla cream. Perfect compliments. First northwest, then southwest with Sonoran dog. Another great pick. Peppermint fudge ribbon is indeed a wild pairing. Toning it back a little bit with a great rendition of the chili dog with the half smoke. Chili And eggnog are both kind of cozy winter foods so I like the pairing. Don't hate on the white hot. It's on par with the red snapper for a classic dog, just depends if you wanna go a little more interesting with this or stick to more plain but classic. Love the contrast of colors with the white hot and the chocolate mint and they're both classic flavors. Don't love going with another chocolate mint ice cream though here. I'm sure this leans more chocolate while the peppermint fudge ribbon leans more mint but still. Dog score - 9/10 these dogs rule Cream score - 7/10 hard to judge kind of two sets of similar creams but still different enough Pairing score - 7/10 besides the one wild pairing I like these
