So, there's this recurring character I draw called Battlemage Shen. Here is my first ever drawing of him, from 2014:
As you can see, one of his defining traits is that his mage weapon is a hammer -- my favorite fantasy weapon. He also seems to be able to cast magic with his hands, and apart from that he just looks kinda like Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.
When I call that type of hammer a fantasy weapon btw, I'm not kidding. The closest thing in actual human history, a warhammer, has a way smaller head, because if it had a head THAT big it would be hella unwieldy. Let's move on to the second drawing:
I was a little bit into my comics career at this point and you can really see my style circa 2018. I actually still think this one is really cool. Got really into the idea of the hammer curving with the movement. Next:
From 2023! The overall silhouette is not that interesting and looks kinda boxy, but I think the pose itself is quite fun. Here I introduced a cartoon goofiness to the shape of the hammer head, a magic ring around the handle, and those metal bits on the shoes, which I got really into, as evidenced by my D&D character around this time, who also has them:
Yesterday, I made the my most recent Battlemage Shen drawing. At first I sketched him as usual, but then I just thought "y'know, I bet I could make a cute girl Battlemage Shen." So I decided to make Battlemage FemShen. DON'T SAY IT.

It's not elegant or cool at all, it's like a tourist on a Segway.
