I like how my first two Patreons are here together.

That "DankPods" guy is a shmuck and a loser

How are you going to protect the batteries and electrical components from dust/mud/water?

That was one of the best ad reads I've ever seen

One of the reasons I support him on patreon is so he doesn't have to run as many ads. It would be nice if the patreon videos didn't have any ads.

Honestly if anything works the first time, I'm deeply deeply suspicious of it. It usually means there's something unexpected waiting to bite you in the ass later.

I do have some shielded 4 conductor cable if you wanna try re-wiring the sensors with shielded wire. I'd be happy to send it to you for free.

Darn. The bodged hall effect sensors on the alternator are probably not ideal / the controller isn't expecting something like that (vs an actual purpose designed motor with sensors).

Well, I tried it. Made no difference. I'll share a photo just in case I shielded it wrong. Thanks for the suggestion! I was hoping the fix would be simple, but nah

I have to say this, because it's terrible of me and for the sponsors. This is one of the few channels I DO NOT skip over the little ads put into the video. They are very entertaining, and while I am not in the market for basically anything you're talking about, they do get me thinkin' sometimes. Granted, a lot of other channels I watch tend watch to just speak the marketing bits at the beginning or end, and are generally like 30-60 seconds of marketing blurbs.

One thing I liked about software development is that something not working the first time was no big deal. Making changes is so easy that you just changes some lines and try it again. Making modifications in the physical world isn't quite so easy or quick.

I just peeled all the silly stickers off my old one. Observant!

Aging Wheels

I am absolutely trying that today

Haha. I've actually had that ad done for about a month. It was supposed to be out by the end of September, but I may have taken a bit longer. Just a bit

It's always more fun when things work the first time, but you always learn so much more when a project puts up a fight. Trust me on this. I used to be a panel builder for a custom cnc manufacturer. I moved from that into industrial automation. When you finish a machine machine with 72 toggle switches on the manual override panel alone you REALLY want it to work the first time, but it never does.

Did you get a new laptop?

I loved the video. And, I’m reminded of an old story from the DailyWTF. A guy road to work on his bike, and his hands got cold. So he and his team designed a bike powered hand warming system. And then someone asked, “what about gloves?”. In that spirit, what about heavy duty earmuffs for your 6 year old :). Regardless, keep up the great content.

VPNing INTO Australia for streaming services rather than out of it is a new concept to me. Having you shout 'PERTH' at your laptop certainly made me smile :)

I was buying nordvpn while traveling and as a guess I put in AGINGWHEELS as a coupon code to see if it would work and it did. And then several days later I saw this video

Yeah agreed - try earthing and sheilding all the wires and see if that helps. I had a similar issue with the 3 phase brushless spindle on my CNC router - I was getting all sorts of gremlins with the GRBL controller - that turned out to be interfearence from the motor power cables - I switched to sheilded cable and most of the issues went away. Worth a quick a dirty test (wrap with ali foil and connect to pack negative??) to see if that helps?
