Great points, that really is the main reason I’m not big on people who go to these extremes because I feel like it detracts from Satanism as a whole. People aren’t as keen to take you seriously when the first thing that comes to mind is people like this. Fellow Satanist here- I think I share my beliefs with a lot of these guys (Democritus also seems to be an Anarchist, as am I). I would grab a beer with any of the folks, and I do think the Satanic Temple is a wonderful organization that engages in a lot of valuable progressive political action. Their optics are pretty terrible though. Not necessarily their calling themselves satanist, or doing shit for shock value, or even their excessive body mods. But when it comes to actually explaining their ideas, they seem to either get very theory heavy, or they just kind of relish in all of the shock they've created. There are definitely exceptions, there were many more level-headed satanists in part 1, but if I was at a political rally for reproductive rights, trans rights, etc. I'd be a little embarrassed to be seen with these guys. For balancing wild shock imagery with progressive and anarchist rallying cries people can actually get behind, I think people need to take more notes from Vermin Supreme. He was a wild and silly dude, but BRILLIANT at getting his ideas across to people who were willing to lend him an ear.
