Hemingway Days
🕑 Added 2022-12-12 00:47:16 +0000 UTCFor 41 years, men between 40 and 60 who want to look and act like Ernest Hemingway have flocked from all of the world to Sloppy Joe's bar in Key West, Florida, for an event called "Hemingway Days." Hemingway Days is sponsored and hosted by the Hemingway Society, a fraternity of 350 of mostly-retired men with silver hair and dreams of adventure.
We're not sure why, but we've been enamored by this event for years. Covering this event has been something we've all wanted to do since the early days of All Gas No Brakes, however, our former employer-that-shall-not-be-named was unwilling to fork up the airfare even though the premise seemed magical.
Thanks to you guys, we were able to bring the whole team (plus Brace Belden) out to Key West a couple months ago to finally do some coverage. We hope you enjoy this truly unique cultural vignette, wherein old portly dudes with white beards put on matching khaki outfits and discuss all things Hemingway.
