Hey guys! I tried looking into some stats you provided (because I go on 3am rabbit holes a little too often) and couldn't find some of the data you provided. I was wondering if you might consider including your sources in your videos? In my experience, a big problem with some *particular* major news networks is they don't offer sources to support their claims. I know you started as an ironic form of journalism but you've evolved so much since All Gas No Brakes and I think a lot of supporters would love to see the supporting reports, if publicly available. I think it would actually be a great *Patreons Only* feature!

H nomadic

Did it again baby

Getting demolished now. Crazy

Lucas Fitzsimons

please interview that goofy ass Vlad

Stef

Love this

Stef

Yep

Stef

Yes I very much agree. This felt put together without much direction.

Stef

Yeah really?!

margo chan

Y’all needed Chicago world news on this one

dr blais

its just reality rap in the words of ice cube

Kavon Zamanian

gonna need some elaboration on your theory about aliens visiting the US

John

Way to open the documentary with "Lebensraum" You're crazy for that one Andrew

Paul Vaselopulos

The juxtaposition of the housing project and the game is so powerful. I love when you kind of mix two seemingly random tones into a video to show how numb some people are to the struggles that their neighbors are going through. Great work team!

Prongu

i dont think he was suggesting that drill music caused those things at all

Nutterslutter

I dont think he walked into his podcast wanting to take advantage of drill musics popularity, and help spread the violence to a larger audience. I think he just found out what works and makes money and was like “oh I’m gonna keep doing this” Really put yourself in his shoes, your making hip hop content one day, regular non gang rappers, then one day you bring on a drill music rapper who talks about some stupid street dispute, and it generates a shit ton of views, equating to a lot of money. It’s very tempting and it would be easy for anyone to rationalize it to them selves and moral.

Nutterslutter

I don’t know this felt a little incomplete to me, I know your style is to ask questions and let the answers reinforce your thoughts. Solid interviews with everyone, I think it would have been cool to see you show how drill music spread to other areas of the country and increased gang violence. Then also show clear examples of how drill music has increased the issues of tribalism and gang violence on the streets. Solid video and message, I think something like this topic could warrant a hour long documentary.

Sean Davis

I briefly lived near the White Sox stadium and always wondered why that team existed. Appreciate that part of it!

Milky Cologne

Yo, what’d you say to the drunk Sox guy tho?

Jordan

you totally right but i also think he is scared cause a lot off people in Chicago are mad at him for his videos

Heather Luhn

Very interesting. Not far from the concept of "narcocorridos". If you guys in the future ever talk about narco culture in mexico... take me lol

Jackie Bird

Bro if id never have to see tony fantanos face again, I'd be soooo happy.

Danny

the dude at the end has some stuff figured out. good man.

Julian Papania

How?

Alex L

Adam22 might be an idiot but akademiks is the biggest pussy of the vid for saying he'd never been to or would come to Chicago. Bro is like a boomer thinking he's gonna get shot walking out of O'Hare

Christian Ferrer

Odee had same bday as me... goosebumps when I saw the tombstone

wool over eyes

imo its just denial, they dont want to think about having responsibility, so their minds simply block it out.

Guillaume Simard

Why censor the Patreon version?

mike perrino

the fact that oh geezy actually has a decent hand on that no jumper wall is blowing my mind

Channel 5

agreed actually. Voiceover we recorded was a bit too poignant. Re-recorded for Youtube.

Theis

Good stuff. I think you gotta be careful with seeming on your high horse when portraying people like Adam, and i dont think you portrayed how he handles the responsibility fairly.

August Slaughter

This was excellent, Andrew and team. You continue to show all of your viewers across the country and abroad how strangely unique and beautiful the US can be, while not shying away from how much this country still has to improve. I’ll be thinking about some of the faces shown in this video, people with good intentions but born into bad circumstances, I pray for their safety. Also when the guy said “I believe the government controls this country” that was top tier comedy.

Tj Williams

showing someone for who they are isnt doing them dirty he gave adam a chance to respond and he had nothing meaningful to say, and vlad is irrelevant as fuck why would anyone talk about him in 2022

Jacob Knight

I feel like you did Adam dirty in some type of way, but only because there was absolutely no mention of VLAD whatsoever, and idk how you could leave him out of the equation when he was promoting the gang shit long before AK or No Jumper. Loved the documentary, this is the highest ranking production of content in society today. But the way Adam was painted juxtaposed with the lack of VLAD mentioning seemed off. 9/10 stars.

CS

This was incredible. What were the two song s played over the whitesox game?

Isaac Lee

Made a patreon account just to watch this, don't think I'll be canceling my membership any time soon :')

Felix Gonzalez

I like how y’all speed up the music, shit sounds fire

Patrick Lewis

I wish it was somehow a Slipknot concert again. Good shit guys.

Mario Reyes

beautiful message at the end.

Bernie Macintosh

damn did adam kinda dirty

Jeremy Rochelle

Big facts from A big guy. Excellent reporting as usual ❤️

auntie luke

Akademiks looked a lot better here than adam22 IMO… and ak was lookin pretty bad

auntie luke

Adam22 played himself in this one

Nathan Norris

best one yet keep it up

Fair_Pie

Great work dudes, its a shame that there are people that profit off of others miseries but such is life, only way to go about it is make people aware that it is happening and let them make their own choices

DansNull

Epic philosophical monologue at the end there, great way to end it.

Joe Quinn

Really need an interview with Sosa. He’s been up to so much with his brand and other ventures besides music. Dude just put up a story with like 10 3D printers in his crib. Dudes become a self made engineer from O block.

Jayden Orstead

camera man smackin the blunt lmao

maxverstappeen

Crazy how Adam22 and Akademiks can just sit there and lack any sense of self awareness whatsoever. Either that or they've just made so much money off of what they do and truly don't give a fuck. I bet it was pretty scary but thrilling chilling in an apartment in O block

Whole Lotta Nope

The Cameraman is a friggin god.

Sam B

What's your biggest fear? Hotdog! Hotdog! Hotdog!

Colin Brady

Did… you guys use sperm guy’s philosophy about his interaction with a random man as a parallel to the philosophy for how gang violence should be resolved? He’s on the same team as that guy in the grand scheme of things, even though he doesn’t know him. Listen to him again, I can’t tell if that’s on purpose or not, but if it is it’s genius…

Amarree Wade

Nice palate cleanser at the end

Dylan McMahon

Rappers go on his podcast, knowing it will be posted, yet they go on there and continually shout out their enemies, and openly talk about beef. Adam has to do little to no digging to get these people to open up and talk about this stuff. They willingly do it 70% of the time on there. It takes 2 to tango. Adam doesn't do good, but to say he's the reason people get shot is just wrong.

otto nelson

Those dudes at the white sox game so uncomfortable with drunk sperm man, love that channel 5 loves the cringe

Matt Vera

One of the best yet, so well put together

what a constructive comment for society Jack. We appreciate the input

Fans do want immersive content—that's why we support Channel 5. But that doesn't give you an ethical free pass to profit off of young Black men killing each other in the street. Fuck that dude. Another great episode, y'all.

this edit is golden.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN OVER OUR COUNTRY

disgustin people terrible for society. the influence of the youth is terrifying. gen z and beyond are neurotic like the world has never seen.

shoutout to u guys, giving a real, introspective, and balanced documentary. soo many tired dialogues in this glad ya’ll took this turn

andrea marmolino

Loved it, audio loop at 14:30 could use some love :D

Jager Stewart

doing the right thing exposing adam22 🙏🏼

Alex Stanford

well done

Igor

Wow, guys, that's a next level. Loved the interviews of guys that cover gang conflicts and how they (try to) explain themselves their role in them. People are so weird

Brian Cody

"I believe the government has taken over our country." might be the best quote they've ever recorded lmao

not here

Totally, you hit the nail on the head I feel like. That part made me really sad. Your words describe what I want to say better than I could write. I really appreciate Andrew's perspective on this. His approach comes with so much humanity, it's so much different from a lot of the other coverage of O-Block, as he makes clear in the video.

Flawda Man

He’s probably one of the scummier people on the internet but his gf is hot and he sells some solid kendamas

Nadia Ruzika

Loved the video Andrew. When you asked the boys if they had ever been outside of O Block and that area, and all of them were quiet. That really hit home and was quite devastating. I think it's easy for someone to look at these young men and say, "You live in the US. Go get a job and be successful on your own." These young men have to carve out a space for themselves in society. No one else is looking out for them besides each other. Beyond the trauma experienced as a byproduct of living in these communities, the lack of financial opportunities, and the systematic racism that exist in this country as is, when you think about their circumstances from birth, these folks are not set up to be successful. Talent is equally distributed, opportunity is not.

Dan Davis

Great work from the team. Channel 5 doing some real shit. Thanks for making something worth watching.

Jackson

I’m 100% certain I was at the same game, I can’t believe I didn’t run into you but WHITESOX!

Blake W. Morris

Adam22 very plainly said that he is fine with the consequences of his show as long as it appeals to his fans. Not really any nuance there. You can appreciate it or think he (as I do) is plain evil.

Elliot Walker

Spectacular stuff guys. Really love it.

Oscar Leitner

But did they enjoy the White Sox game?

Atticus Stockdale

Hell yea

Odd Mushroom

"i got six kids right there" lmao really though i fucking love you guys for sweating akademics AND adam22 like that. some amazing interviews in this one too ily

Justin Candler

please never stop calling Yeat lmfao

Tyler Hanley

Thanks for asking Adam22 and Dj Ak those questions. Literally spot-on. Click-bait vultures if you ask me. Your content is amazing. We need more!

Evan Pearson

great doc, but it feels unfinished. Where’s the second half?

This is a worthwhile watch. Thanks and keep it up!

James Atha

Why do none of them use condoms???

Brandon Hanger

hambuga hambuga hot dawdggggg

Ron Jones

"I have 6 kids over there" dude this guy is so funny lmfao

Beagle

Everything is commoditized. Our health, our sickness, love, hate, and violence are all for sale. These kids growing up in extreme poverty have no resources, and they see members of their community die in the streets, watching the ones who murder their neighbors come into fame, success, and wealth. They are shown every day that their life means nothing, so of course they're willing to kill and be killed for the chance to blow up. And rather than addressing the root problems of poverty, Americans sit by, watching, judging, and finding enjoyment in the misery of our most unfortunate—putting a $ value on the lives that are thrown away for our entertainment.

Jame

I think the juxtaposition between seriousness and comedy is one of the larger themes in channel 5's work, and it's definitely what makes it unique. I think that out of all of the hard cuts in the past videos like the time he got on a beer bike tour in (I think) the pro choice video, this was one that made the most sense in the context of the broader story. I agree with Garret about it providing a full look at Chicago's wealth inequality. And, if you're willing to stretch, it's interesting to think about the metaphoric parallel between the gang violence being a spectacle on it's own to the drunken observers of the baseball game - it seems fitting somehow. It definitely feels a bit jarring to just end on the baseball game without feeling like like the original story line has a resolution, so I get where you're coming from.

L R

He was probably with his girl and kids

Nic Westall

HOTDOG, HOTDOG, HOTDOG, HOTDOGGGG. Comedy Gold.

Michelle Sleeper

Andrew once again proving he is like a truffle pig that can sniff out flat earthers in any situation.

Worse nightmare? HOTDOG HOTDOG HOTDOG😂

Nicolas Nicolas

that's what crack-a-lackin u feel me

GC1931

“The government has overtaken our country” lol

Tincan Applesauce

For whatever reason, the crew has a way of making some white folks look like real douche bags in comparison. Andrew and the whole crew are so genuine and down to earth, people like Adam22 really come off as real douche bags. It's not an intentional thing either, part of it is the style of letting people talk and asking to the point questions. You tend to get a more real side of people and it really gives good insight into whos been interviewed

lilspiceboi69

i was gonna say i hope this gets dropped on youtube this shits amazing!! great video channel 5

Podge

dj ak was weirdly mature in this one

Benjamin Glover

I am enjoying this trolling of Yeat's facetime

Rolando Winborn

Awesome job! LOVED the guy at the ends metaphor. He was making a lot of sense for someone on what was probably a 7th beer.

Joey Planets

Hey Andrew, awesome video! Would be cool to see/hear your take on the recent developments between Chicago and Atlanta beef, namely between OBlock and Never Broke Again, and how this beef with states between each other came about. I believe once drill music spread to other regions, it became apparent the violence would spread with it, or it’s possible the violence was already there and the mainstream found its way there because the music did.

David Winking

Awesome.

Andrew Ridgway

Amazing content as usual. Cant wait to see ya in a few months in Cali on tour.

Lama Muttaqi

vlad, ak & adam are all war profiteers to me lol

BreadSandwich

HAMBUGA HAMBGA HAMBUGA

Jack Pout

I loved the ending at the game, thought drunk fan's ideology about being on the same team inherently was a good contrast to the gang competition we had been watching.

Lama Muttaqi

chiraqology are quaking!

Roar Hanasand

Maybe it's because I'm not from the US but I wish all of it had subtitles. Especially struggled hearing everything Boss Top was saying. That said, thanks for the great content, continually improving ❤️ Grateful for the lack of nuts, Will Blunderfield and dicktugging.

Roar Hanasand

Works for me, on iPhone.

Finnian Langham

Surely your greatest video yet, excellent filmmaking

Roar Hanasand

Did you talk to Adam about your thoughts on his role in perpetuating or instigating violence?

Martiska Reinikka

"hey you guys wanna go to the White Sox game?" - Goes to the game - Immediately abandons boss top and his crew.

It is fuckin nuts I can get my steps in whatever time of day without a worry in mind and only 1 hour south of me there’s a warzone where dudes gotta watch their backs having their friends killed left and right, ptsd and shit just put into a fucked up environment. I can only be thankful but godamn all I can do is watch as this shit unfolds, that dude’s around the same age as me and lived a completely different world. And like I said he’s only less than an hour away from where I’m at Nobody wants to take any sort of heat but once it goes down everyone loves talking about it and inadvertently provoking that toxicity right in their face. With that said your raw coverage on the topic is about as respectful as it gets around, I hope if o block or anyone from the area see this too they feel the same way. I kinda get the Sox bit too, it’s like getting my steps in, not a care in the world other than a good game playing

Ian

the only bad part is it ended

Samuel Pitcher

That’s super great, respectable stuff. Channel 5 for president

Elijah Guess

Personally loved the transition to the White Sox game, felt jarring but that’s real life, there’s such a contrast of experiences going on in the city and it shows that. Also a palette cleanser after such heavy material. Honestly something uniquely cool with all your stuff is how the tone shifts all over the place depending on the reality of the moment.

Ryan Sears

this is some award worthy ish right here

Andrew Shaw

same energy as eric andre's nightmare nightmare nightmare

Andrew Shaw

when the hambuga hambuga hambuga guy said his biggest fear was hotdog hotdog hotdog I felt that.

Andrew Smoke

"What's your greatest fear in life?" "Hotdog! Hotdog! Hotdog!"

Garrett Bush

Final moment of this video is great. You guys are so good at telling a story by showing, not telling, and that man just happened to send a perfect message about a story he didn't know was being told.

Ahmad

I’m also scared of hotdogs

Peter Kim

Love the look into this community. damn fine journalism

Garrett Rincon

I feel like it's a pretty accurate representation of Chicago. You have pretty severe poverty and people that have never left their city block being traumatized by witnessing murder on a daily basis, and then you have people getting fucked up at a Sox game not too far away. It really shows the different realities we all live in.

Junior Chrysler

Great video Fuck Adam22

Channel 5

I feel that. Just wanted to do something with the footage. But you’re right - Andrew

Bobby Voit

The way you told the story of violence in Chicago is extremely good and tastefully done. However, I think the transition from the grim social commentary to drunk people being drunk at a game is a bit jarring. I feel like the video would stand on its own by letting people leave with the perspective of the documentary. Perhaps split the video into two parts for youtube? Or at least give a smoother tonal transition to the white socks game? It's still great, but mashing the two together gave me a bit of a confused feeling after the video ended. Love the work you guys do. Just a fan trying to provide some constructive criticism.

Zachary feil

Amazing

Beer.Browser

Keep up the good work guys!

Alix

Has anyone heard the song Vicarious by Tool?

Ryan Frew

This is a fantastically well done documentary on gang violence and the culture in hip hop. I live in Chicago in a privileged neighborhood, and admittedly, was ignorant as to why gang violence persists and truly what that looks like. Just knew a that the north side is generally safe and south and southwest sides were more dangerous. how this trauma spreads from generation to generation. It’s heart breaking seeing a boy want to be successful even if it means more violence, yet I want him to be successful so he can break free as well. I get why people listen to it, I love hip hop and am glad some of these guys are getting recognized for their talent… I really hope we as a city, but also a country, can find a way to help and support these communities that need it. White privilege is real, and it’s bullshit. If you’re white and not aware of this you’re a part of the problem. Thank you Channel 5 for continuing to deliver content that MATTERS.

Matthew Jackson

"I think the government has taken over... The country" yeah I mean that's true.

When it cuts to andrew walking o block after ak saying how he still to this day would never go to Chicago perfectly shows the disconnect these guys are from people they profited off of. Good shit showing them as humans and not a bunch of “assassins “

Rick Nevill

god dam akademiks is such a meatball

Tyler Gray

Great work Andrew, Nic & Evan. I’m excited to see the East Hastings Video soon.

Grant Wallace

I liked the message last homie had to say. well said.

Vincent Terracciano

Lol same. I was like I think the government had admitted that they keep secrets from us

Michael Bishop

I kinda liked it! I thought the last guy was weirdly poignant and relevant to the video. Even though he was talking about another drunk guy walking in front of him at a baseball game, hearing, "Different team might be the same team in the long run," in a video about the proliferation of gang violence really hit me.

Jilted

fuck akademics. been saying that for years and this doc shows why i never liked that slimey ball of garbage.

Zack H

Nah the point is to let those boys enjoy the game. I think we would’ve lost more of the plot if channel 5 began to air more footage of them at the game. Think about it. Huge lesson learned in this pivot. I hope more will see it.

Zack H

The fact that you did not air any footy of the gentz from O block AT the WHITE SOX game was, to say the least, classy as fuck. Hats off. Fuckin brilliant to see dj nimrod and dumdum21 make fools out of themselves. Fuck em

Matt Walters

So good, y'all. This is so good. Thanks for doing what you do.

Samuel Pitcher

Did the OBlock crew end up leaving? Would have been cool to see if they enjoyed the game. But also sick if they just got a nice experience without any strings attached eg being filmed

Sean Schwarz

One of your best videos yet!

Cyrus Grove

Channel 5

There is a big difference between running a gang gossip page from afar then what Zack did. Rip ZackTV though, truly best Chicago journalist of that era.

Yt suburban kids be like “I felt that…”.

Justin Baggett

Best journalism around today.

The worlds greatest drone pilot botgrinder fpv

Awesome

Adam Harrison

WOW! Just wow... The way you were able to tell so many stories in thirty minutes and then relate it all back to some random White Sox fan talking about picking a side but being on the same team. Way to go with drawing a parallel between gang violence and team sports. So many layers of tribalism in this video. Also, shout out to the editor's ability to draw out all this information and tel the story.

JasonG

Good shit 🥳

awesame

Did Boss Top enjoy the game?

umichwolv

This was great but y'all should've at least had a segment on ZackTV. He was way more prevalent than No Jumper at the time.

Jennifer

Same here. Nice birthday surprise.

Z

I had a similar conversation with a friend after both watching the No Jumper interview. Regardless of the truth, I really enjoyed seeing Andrew and team’s perspective on the conversation.

River Richart

Perfect cut at the end with the philosopher giving his take on the two separate teams. One moment you’re on separate teams against each other, next thing you’re on the same team for something else. Fuckin A philosophy.

Andrew Branzell

Brilliant video, love you guys.

Dongler

Do you feel Adam22 is responsible or is it more of bad timing that his interviews happen before tragedy?

Isaac

Amazing as always

Matthew Harris

HOT DOG HOT DOG HOT DOG HOT DOG HOT DOG HOT DOG

Z

Amazing work. I really appreciated how seriously you took the O-block segment while bringing it to a light and fun close. Bringing Boss Top to the White Sox game was a perfect transition, similar to bringing Crip Mac to the Slipknot show. I hope this becomes a recurring theme with Channel 5. Also, great job identifying the flat earther. 👁👃👁
