Philly Streets (Part 2/3) - Tranq Brothers
🕑 Added 2023-12-12 19:44:03 +0000 UTCHere is our interview with one of the two brothers who control the flow of Xylazine in-and-out of Philadelphia, who and manufacture wholesale amounts of 'Tranq' (a mixture of Fentanyl, Heroin, and Xylazine), to be sold to drug users on the streets.
As we covered in our previous episode in Philly, Tranq is an animal tranquilizer which has not yet been approved for human consumption, but is being cut into Fentanyl by drug dealers to strengthen its effects. These brothers invented this method 6 years ago.
Upon injection, Tranq often causes Necrotizing Fasciitis, which is a flesh-eating condition that if not treated immediately, can lead to septic shock and death.
This morning, I interviewed a dermatologist about what exactly occurs in the skin when Tranq enters the human bloodstream, which is an interview I plan to release on Patreon in the coming days.
For whatever reason, Patreon is having problems with it's native video uploader so I'm having to upload 'Tranq Brothers' as an unlisted YouTube link, for now.
I genuinely think these dudes have SOME qualities that constitute legit evil, but it’s a mixed bag. Let me know what you guys think.

Where the sting operations when you need them. Instead they busting into unexpecting black womens home killing them.
Dane Beilken
They are part of the same family. They do have a similar chemical make up. Ketamine is also a tranquilizer.
Dane Beilken
I had to laugh when he said Grand Cherokee 😂
Dane Beilken
Yeah, they kinda lost me with the maths. Plus that place was farkin filthy.

Yeah those are good points and you’re probably right. I just feel like an investigator or some type of law enforcement would be able to take clues like location, looks, and other small things and use them to pinpoint the criminal ya know?

I don't think an actual drug dealer is willing to stage something that will put him behind bars for a very long time
Caitlin Kuvalanka
Andrew is ballsy as hell and these interviews are legit.
stebe MacQueen
but andrew should know better than to give this guy a platform is what i mean. this is sensationalizing the drug and the scene. its fear mongering. those are the ethics i am questioning.
Cesar Hernandez
It’s a small guy trying to act big. This how people are in the hood
Rust Vendor
if alcohol brands added a chemical that rotted your flesh I would indeed blame the companies
MidnightInSalem
"I like fancy cars" Names the most generic hoodrat cars possible 🤣🤣🤣

Do they do that? Not to sound too basic but I automatically think of the suffragettes and realized that’s the only time I’ve heard of force feeding but have to assume it happens.
Noah Collyer
when he answered death like that I did question the validity but I don't think its andrew staging it I think like someone said above its a tweaker trying to sound bigger than they are
carmina h
These two def just showing how easy it is to start selling that shit they fs aren’t no Jess n Walter
Yak
I think they're actually drug dealers, just small potatoes trying to look big. Probably one level up from whoever stands at that corner. Yeah they're stupid but there are a lot of stupid people in the game.
Yak
Criminals have always been willing to talk to journalists. A lot of them like Jack the Bipper and maybe even these guys probably just don't really care about the consequences. Organized gangs know that the interviewer knows they'll be killed if they help the cops, so it's solely up to the interviewee's judgement whether they're willing to be on camera. That and people like Andrew start to get a reputation for not ratting out the people they interview.
Yak
My guess, they're brand new to the game, bought a bunch of shit in bulk a few months ago, started making lots of cash selling to whoever deals at that corner, and it's going to their heads.
Yak
They probably just brought their shit into that house solely for the interview. As for the personal details, might have been made up. Darknet dealers do that all the time.
Thomas Ball
yeah idk, this interview doesn't feel legit
stebe MacQueen
this is, entirely staged. im really starting to question your ethics at this point andrew.
Max
Karma is gonna absolutely demolish this piece of shit
Jacob Pichette
So many identifiable things to get arrested from. Voice, hat, things in the house, favorite places to eat etc.

What an absolute cope. This dude is evil

id be okay if they were condemned to a cell and a feeding tube for the rest of their life
Sisterdiscordia
Felt like they just set themselves up to be the next hit by spilling the beans.
homebrew901
For real these dudes are wack. If they were for real they’d never want to go on camera
homebrew901
They want to make a name for themselves
homebrew901
Because they’re just posers. You can tell by how they talk
homebrew901
I think he’s full of shit and just trying to make a name for himself. No way it’s just those two controlling all of it
homebrew901
Dude sounds like a tweeker trying to make himself bigger than he really is. Nobody for real would want to be on camera like this

This guy is full of shit lmao. These dudes are small potatoes

And the federal government making a safe supply for addicts an impossibility

Not even close. Ketamine is used for depression therapy and by anesthesiologists. And it’s used recreationally in the rave scene a lot. It’s reasonably safe. It’s not weed but it ain’t this tranc shit either.

Ketamine is ketamine and xylazine is xylazine.

Is xylazine the same as ket?
HASHHEAD
“Ima lamb kinda guy” god these guys are fucking bozos.
Vinchenzo James
These guys are a joke. They have the intimidation factor of a superhero miniboss and knowing that they can be traced up to Philadelphia's Tranq trade is so deplorable. Seeing the actual cartel's overall influence on these trades is insane, and realistically, there has to be federal coordination even to entertain fighting back on the supply of it.

At Artem, of course, I can't express the complexity of the entire crisis in a single sentence but my point was that often it seems easier to look at two people dressed in hoods and hate and blame them, or people like them, for the entirety of the problem. And at the same time it is easy to overlook people in business suits with diplomas, marketing departments, lawyers, and all the billions pharmaceutical companies have amassed and not see the choices those people at those companies made even with knowledge of the damage they caused and continue to cause. Of course, pharmaceutical companies have done amazing help and provide value to the world. But will any of those pharmaceutical company employees or owners go to jail for the over 500,000 overdose deaths and the untold numbers that could no longer get the prescription and sought alternatives on the streets? The Sackler family might not even have to file for personal bankruptcy and basically get away with a fortune and no jail time. https://www.reuters.com/legal/us-supreme-court-scrutinize-purdue-pharma-bankruptcy-settlement-2023-08-10/#:~:text=Purdue%20estimates%20that%20its%20bankruptcy,who%20have%20sued%20the%20company. and https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-announces-global-resolution-criminal-and-civil-investigations-opioid for references.
Artem Ivanov
While I acknowledge the significant concerns surrounding the entire Purdue Pharma narrative (at least that's the company I'm most aware of) and the aggressive marketing of opioid prescriptions, simply asserting that 'all pharmaceutical companies peddle opioids that are lethal' oversimplifies the issue. Opioids serve critical purposes in specific scenarios, such as surgical interventions. However, substances like Tranq seem designed primarily to foster addiction, leading to tragic outcomes.

After he said "ten years", I feel like that sentiment is just always too late.. The evil he has done in a decade feels far more severe than any swift karma coming to them brothers, Vets, & cartel...

the fuck are you even on about lol. They aren't hiding skin color they're hiding their identity. Bizarre you would even introduce race into this situation. Also would you blame alcohol brands for becoming an alcoholic? Or maybe your decisions leading up to that point.

Those Two White Boys sure like hiding there skin, seems like that nearly 6 foot one in the back is having doubts about having his skin seen by others when he himself necrotizes the skin of thousands of others, haha those two dude need more hugs as a child!
Devin Smith
I’m super curious to know what Andrew says to these guys to set it up. I def don’t think he lies to them or anything like that lol just seems like someone could use all of the things they say to find them? The cartel could def find the tranq brothers so I feel like law enforcement could as well ya know
Matthias Bernsdorf
It’s so crazy to me how many criminals will openly talk to Andrew and show him parts of their operation literally on camera.

These drug dealer flourish because our country provides little-to-no safety nets for impoverished people. If the general population's basic needs were met (shelter & food), we would see so much less of this kind of activity. It's desperation that brings someone to that point. People like the Tranq Brothers are preying on people's weaknesses, and it's sad to see. Stay safe out there, Andrew.

This is insanely important journalism. Please don’t ever stop pursuing documenting reality!

Nobody is pure evil, he said he had an average upbringing in poverty but I feel as tho that was a deflection. A love of money so strong that he’s willing to produce something that harms others? It’s gotta be deeper than societal pressure. Compassion for everyone🖼️

Andrew I'm speechless. I've lived in Philly my whole life, and never have seen such on the ground real reporting on this subject. This is incredible and I really hope your work can inspire change.
Wyatt Miller
Andrew - Could you speak on the journalistic process? Why did these people agree to speak with you for basically nothing in return? Ego? Were they scared you might snitch on them? Thanks boss
Brandon Smith
I’m not even arguing any longer on this. Those kids are standing there talking shit, plain and simple. Nothing scary about them, other than probably the smell inside that house.
Brandon Smith
He said that to try and sound like a tough guy, a wolf eats lamb type of thing. I’m looking at everyone’s comments, these are not stone cold killers, they are not kingpins or bosses. It’s a couple of coked out kids with a shoe box full of dope, in over their head, talking shit.
Nicholas Tylek
yeah i most definitely have not and am thankful that i have not needed to. I definitely don't know how it is. I just know some people who used to be heavily involved and only have their word of mouth or things I have seen. I'm sure there is a heirarchy. Maybe they are pawns. You do have to realize that the real world is messier than you think though and some people can simply just be stupid. not everyone or everything has some mastermind behind it directly like in the movies. That said I know for a fact that you don't need to involve yourself in the heirarchy at all and can just grow or synthesize your own products. If you can't do that there is always the dark web.
David Miller
Bone-chilling
Pete
With the social and economic circumstances these guys were born into they’re making a lot of money exploiting a loophole and then dissociating from the damage their business does which you could say for lots of destructive legal business. The economic structure under capitalism is the same, it’s a dog eat dog world. Fuck these guy sure, but why didn’t you say “fuck those veterinarian’s…” It is fair to have a negative visceral reaction to these people, they do not give a fuck about anybody and they’re on screen, but i’ll just say it for you FUCK THOSE VETERINARIANS! Veterinarians do not come from the same social and economic circumstances as the tranq bros
Guy
That is what I am saying; Even if the police come and aresst that dude tomorrow there will just be another one who comes and takes his place because the reasons why people are the way they are; The social and economic reasons why people turn to drugs and why people become drug dealers have npt themselves been addressed.

this is denial of cause and effect in our capitalist system. when people don't have money they do whatever they can to get it. Some work their whole lives as wage slaves others say fuck that im getting this money one way or another. to change the results, the economic system has to be changed. PERIOD. no amount of Jesus worshipping is going to change the economic system. this guy probably understands that more than you do.

Yeah I can tell you have never been in the hustle, this guy is a street level kid with a big mouth. The cartel is 20 levels above him. You ever see the owner of a fast food restaurant sitting in his own booths? You never see the boss in any business. Real killers don’t brag about killing, and real hustlers don’t get their hands dirty, especially on tv standing in the trap house loud as a mother fucker.
Nicholas Tylek
In philly there are different mob presences which ultimately tie to different governments. A lot of the strip clubs in the north east near the ukranian russian parts of town have ex kgb affiliated mobsters. Italian mob used to do more but now they are mostly real estate. the chinese government and mob can be pretty brutal in chinatown and are a big source for fentanyl and it seems like now they are tied to cartel presence in north philly. Idk i just remember an influx of latin american residence and delicious food north of chinatown and Puerto Ricos government was involved in shipping heroin addicts to north philly and then people would use them to collect welfare on their behalf. there was a whole court case on it. I'm not an expert its just things i know from people in the area involved in the past and just things i have seen but i dont get involved in crime so i don't actually know the details.
Nicholas Tylek
the big dog is the mexican cartel he was talking about that can put a price on someones head from his villa far away and rakes in money.

Tranq kingpins-- I know you're reading these comments to see how we're perceiving you. From one human to another-- if you're a real person with a soul, oh man, the bad karma you are building up for yourself is insane. It will be very painful for you when it comes back around. The sooner you start using your personal energy to LIBERATE mankind instead of enslaving it, the better for your soul, your karma, and your future. Clearly you have some intelligence, strength, and soul power. Start using it to uplift your brothers and sisters. Join God's team. It is we who have the last laugh. It feels really good over here. In order to switch teams, you will face intense tests and trials, but you can do it. Godspeed brothers

Dude that kid is dead. Inside that house, says what kinda cars he likes. What his girlfriends look like. To much info, unless that kid is fucking is crucial for the cartel. Dude gave it all up. Kids dead.
Magic Plants
Because most of the things he post is legitimately accurate. This is just a false portrayal and I'm just hoping that it wasn't BS from the beginning. Andrew should know better.
Justin Duran
What the fuck did it smell like in there smfh
Guevon
Crazy how money corrupts and what people will do for it, destroying other humans to get it, and much worse. It's so sad. It's BS... How money affects people, we need to really change or limit how much we let it be involved in life but that's life - world needs a change, it's so sad. Thanks for the video, great work you do man. All of it.
Guevon
Little column a, little column b. I think there's some truth in what you say, these obv aren't the big dogs, but the interview is still useful. You can't say these guys aren't POS, and aren't taking advantage of whatever middleman position they're in to distribute this horrible shit for money.

Blahaha, he’s not cold blooded. Street level middle man with a little re-up money and a big mouth. If he’s the big dog, why’s he standing in the trap?
Justin Opinion
Yea. If they’re getting xylazine that’s being diverted from a pharm, you’d expect these dudes to have dozens of bottles of it with the labels still on them. They point to some random bottle on the floor saying “that’s the xylazine”. Doesn’t make sense. Maybe they showed Andrew additional proof that he wasn’t able to show in the vid, but it’s hard to take it at face value as is. The guy is scary as shit though.

I pay because I like fake journalism. I assume you pay because you are a supporter of SA?

hmmm asked if he feels any sense of responsibility 3 times, knows that the stuff kills people, would't use it himself...hmmm now that's what I call a true bad guy.
Magic Plants
I promise those aren't the real dope boys. Those are the skids who live in traps who finesse people with fake dope (that's obviously flour in the 50g bag) which is why he says "2 to 4000" because he doesn't really know. He has no idea which is why he explains it like "we do what we gotta do" and no real explanation No on with a real hustle will dare put it on camera for a quick $200 or whatever this channel paid them.

I am surprised that it doesn't seem like you distorted his voice or hid his identity even more than you already did. Amazing and revealing work as always but I hope you're staying safe through all of this. I'm amazed at how well you can keep your cool and maintain composure talking to these guys with glocks in their pockets. It takes a level of raw guts and courage balanced with humility and even playfulness. I don't know of many journalists working in America today that could pull this off.
poblano pepper union
He's certainly constructed a moral defense mechanism to distance himself from the system of death and pain he's participating in with a version of "don't shoot the messenger." Instead of viewing himself in any way as responsible, he's chosen to see himself as a cog in larger machine that he's taking advantage of, while shifting the blames to the cartels, and especially the users, as the real source of blame. If this guy had crushing debts to pay off or a family to support and provide for, I could see what he was doing as maybe more understandable, if not really defendable. But it seems like he's just fallen in love with the lifestyle making these deadly drugs has provided. Sadly, he's coming into this from a situation that he describes as "regular poverty", and he may have gotten into his line of work not just because he saw no other viable alternative to moving upwards financially, but because it's what he was surrounded with and brought into.
Moriah
Couldn’t help but picture this guy accidentally shooting himself in the leg. Legit anxious after watching this.

Balls of steel to go talk with those dudes AC, the tension from the room almost permeates through my screen. Looking forward to hearing from the dermatologist, so far Philly has made SF look like a kiddie choir.

This was unreal, nicely done. Can't believe the cajones to keep pressing on whether or not they feel responsible. And you managed to keep it real with some food recs, I was really hoping they would give you a joint for you to go eat at after, true dark tourism. One thought, maybe blur your film crew's faces for their safety when you're getting deep into this stuff.
Matty P
This is better than the early days of Vice doing these types of stories. It's raw you know you can tell this is real life and you can feel everyone not trusting everyone. That is a hard life that kid is aging so fast I hope he gets out.

Awesome work, Andrew. So glad I subscribed to your channel. Something that I feel is worth mentioning is that while the Xylazine epidemic is new to America, it was not invented by these guys or in the last 6 years, as stated in your description. The cutting of xylazine into heroin and fentanyl was a problem in Puerto Rico dating back to the early 2000s, maybe earlier. I'm not sure whether or not they are still dealing with xylazine in Puerto Rico, but I imagine there is a direct correlation between how it was used to cut drugs there and the way it is being used now in the northeastern part of the U.S.

Thanks for the response. To clarify, I certainly think there are evil people. And I believe this guy in the video is just about as bad as a person can be in general. I just have had the misfortune/fortune to know people like him and some of them worked toward redemption. Albert Fish was never going to work toward redemption. Pol Pot would never have worked toward redemption. Aagin, thank you for engaging with me to talk about this. I appreciate you.

I always thought the sports fan culture was the worst of Philly. Very eye opening and scary to see the level of indifference with the dealers and the addicts.

I appreciate your sentiment here, and generally agree with the idea of "nobody is evil." But, I think we have to make an exception for people who claim no responsibility to blatant harm they're causing. Someone who sees the damage they're causing, takes advantage of homeless people, employs teenagers into dangerous situations, and thinks they're not responsible? That isn't a product of capitalism, that's just being selfish. While greed and selfishness are products of both capitalism and evilness, his morals would stand in a society not depleted by capitalism.

Why the fuck would they agree to do this?
Nope Nuhuh
"control the flow of Xylazine in-and-out of Philadelphia" sounds a little sensational to me. I don't think there's enough evidence to make that statement.
Katie
I’m going to have to disagree with you on that one.

andrew be safe my guy dont be bringing up the cartels

Astonished by the "do as I say not as I do" mentality. Has the attitude of justifying that he's in the game just to provide for himself/his family, and that he'll stop someday. But the people who get into this type of "business" to begin with would never have the backbone to get out of it. Just a feckless, selfish piece of shit. Hope this catches up with him soon.

Sad part is if they were to combust spontaneously someone would just step up and take their place
Richard Springfield
Is this guy a human parasite? Absolutely, yes. Is he evil? That is more of a philosophical distinction, and we need to define our terms as to what evil is. An evil person, in my definition, is someone who has no reason to be wicked to their fellow beings but chooses to do so anyway, with no guidance, systemic influence, or grooming necessary; a person who does harm for sport or for their own pleasure. True sadism. An evil person is beyond redemption, and the only rational way to deal with such a person is to end their life, and thereby remove their capacity to do harm. This guy sounds more like he is a product of a capitalist system and has been shaped by different cultural situations to believe that what he does is just business. I don't imagine he hurts babies for fun, kicks puppies to hear them scream, that sort of thing. I believe he still loves his mother, and wants love. Does he deserve all the law can throw at him? Certainly. Is he making the world a worse place? Completely. Is he evil? I don't think so. I think even this guy has some tiny sliver of soul left. He is not Himmler. He is not Mengele. He is a product of capitalism.

Beautiful statement. When my father was 18, it was 1971. Some of his friends sadly got hooked on quaaludes, then it was crack, then it was heroin. If we get rid of Xylazine, im scared they may just replace it. Harm reduction services are life or death.
demlet
Terrifying.

Once again, incredible reporting. The bit at the end really underlines the absolute need for harm reduction services. These drugs aren't going anywhere. What can change is the way we treat addiction and the human beings suffering from it.
