I mean you just summed it up pretty well, and while I understand that I can't relate to everything those kids go through there are aspects that I can relate to. I had 0 positive male influences growing up (like most young men in our country) as well as grew up poor. We all have our struggles, kudos to those who don't, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be moved to empathy by a cheap humanizing statement. They are actively hurting people who have their own struggles and hardships and who are trying to make it through life honestly and they have 0 remorse for it. Could care less if they've never properly been taught what remorse is. At some point you have to buck up and take responsibility for your life.

For anyone wondering why they gave up pursuit it's likely just basic risk/reward. If the dispatch thinks there is a greater chance of bystander harm if the chase is continued they'll bail. Not a good look when someone's mother dies or multiple people's cars get totalled in exchange for stopping a car that will soon be abandoned full of minors who will just tax the overloaded system

In CT if no violence occurs in the theft of a vehicle (i.e. a car-jacking) the police cannot legally pursue a stolen vehicle. It’s too dangerous and much safer to just investigate it
