Yeah I agree. Its almost shocking to hear Andrew give a lot of opinion here around the Israel Palestine issue when the whole brand is show dont tell. Obviously this content is different, and its interesting to hear his thoughts, but I'd rather see a Channel 5 video from Gaza/Israel showing whats going on. It felt a bit like their thoughts were overpowering her actual footage and work there, which was genuinely good and in line with the deep, super real interviews that Andrew does.

True, they had some intel that an attack was being planned. But if you live next door to Hamas, whose charter calls for your destruction, then I’m sure there are constant threats and plans of attack. The question is how credible these plans are to actually being carried out, and the israeli security obviously failed by not taking it seriously. To assume that the IDF maliciously allowed the attack against their own people to happen in order to further their plot of Palestinian genocide is a completely unfounded and conspiratorial assertion. The fog of war has reached a new level in our modern times due to social media, and this “analysis” of the conflict is furthering the confusion.

What they take issue with is how the conservative right-wing limits their personal freedoms through religious laws. Just a note about the first video - The only ones in support of occupying Gaza are the far-right. Everyone else, including the mainstream right, want to either completely detach from anything to do with Gaza or (if you go to the far-left) work towards a Palestinian state. The settlements in the West Bank are a different thing, though, and generally the right is pro-settlements, left against and center pro some of them (the ones which are actual cities at this point like Ariel) and against others. Also, about the Mossad knowing about this - There were many red flags raised by intelligence officers before the attack, what happened was that many forces were moved to the west bank to protect some illegal settlements due to a decision by Ben Gvir. There was also a strong conception in the Israeli military that, well, Hamas is just too weak and disorganized to do anything like that, and that the technologically advanced defenses in the border wall would be able to stop any large-scale attack. The 7th of October was also a holiday in Israel, so most military bases and units were staffed by skeleton crews, which is another reason for the complete and utter failure that day. The Mossad isn't really a "shadow organization" like the CIA is. Israel is a small country and has mandatory military service, so it's just much harder for these types of things to exist when everyone is involved in everything. In Israel, it's commonplace to "know a guy" who has security clearance for this type of stuff, so this would've leaked to the media withing microseconds. The reason for the military failure is the belief that Hamas are weaklings that can't do anything, combined with settlers straining the IDF and Hezbollah acting up on the northern border in months prior (see: the entire Hezbollah tent situation, which was bizzare in its own right). There will surely be many investigations into what exactly went wrong that day, but it was definitely a failure of intelligence, and not an internal sabotage.

Vid 1 - covering the liberal Israeli protest was an interesting look at a perspective that is completely ignored by the msm - Israeli's for peace. Right up Channel 5's alley, really well done. Shoutout to Agat. 2 - Would have been interested to see more of the meat of what the video was getting after. The intro scene driving into Ukraine was nicely done - don't think they should have gotten so much shit for not using the right mics - that can easily be remedied.

One more comment about the LA metro. They have no fare enforcement. The green shirts can’t check for fares. Cops don’t check for fares. They check if you have a metro card very rarely (like 1 in every 30 rides) but they don’t verify payment on the cards. (And they give free ride cards to homeless / low income)

At first I thought, I don't want to watch this Israel Palestine stuff, but then I thought wait a sec, it's Channel 5 not mainstream media. So I watched it, actually learned a whole bunch of stuff, didn't feel polarized or forced to take a side, and it helped actually shape instead of force my opinion and intuition.
