Not at all, unless we're talking about regions that came under rule of Islam through conquest. And the religious societies that have failed coincided with loss of religion among its people altogether. Generally speaking, religious/spiritual societies have an excellent track record, even going back to Greek/Roman Pagan religions. Christianity and Islam are largely responsible for the same discoveries that dictate modern scientific understandings, medicine (Catholic Church created hospitals), academia, because the notion of understanding the world came under the pretense of challenging one's own beliefs regarding a God's existence by attempting to prove or disprove it. Conversely, areligious societies have a horrendous track record. Nothing good has ever come from them, 0 redeeming qualities whatsoever, unless you consider man-made horrors beyond your wildest imagination to be the markings of a successful civilization. When societies lose unifying values or commonly shared beliefs, nothing good ever comes from it besides pestilence and death. Up to 50 million Christians killed in Soviet Russia. Religious German Empire fell after WW1 leading to Bolshevik/Western Liberalism instituting secularist Weimar Republic, which was so horrendous and collapsed so spectacularly it ushered in Nazi Germany. Maoist China. The assumption that a more educated society no longer needs shared religion or values is hubris, plain and simple. And I say this as someone that was a militant atheist up until 22 or 23 years old. We'll see long lasting ramifications from this, best case scenario is a flight back to religion, worst case is something very morbid as we'll see history repeat itself once more.

During the current period of anti-social nihilism overtaking the West, a return to common understanding and shared community, and coming together through stories of fuck-ups, and trials and tribulations, is what might return this country to its former glory, and imo the only way to do that is through religion. Every secular society in history ultimately fails and becomes grotesque, unsustainable, and outright abhorrent. Weimar Germany, Soviet Union, Maoist China, devoid of meaning. Thus which might be shared across countrymen only encompasses suffering, except it is quietly shared because it permeates through the society and is never discussed puclicly, because that is against the nature of disjointed secularist society.
