Anti abortion people only exist because men don’t like the fact that women are basically gods and they aren’t. I will explain. Sources are ever so slightly imprecise when it comes to the frequency of miscarriages, some say 15%, some say 25%, but ballpark, 10-20% of pregnancies end in miscarriages, with the number most likely actually being higher bc some women miscarry before they even realize they’re pregnant. My mother has always said she doesn’t think people should even announce pregnancy’s before the first trimester because the pregnancy can so easily be lost. 80% of miscarriages happen in the first trimester. Mother Nature basically goes actually this one isn’t gonna work out, try again next time. In 2021, 93% of abortions in 40 states in the US happened in the first trimester. This is pretty much always the statistic with slight fluctuations. So what is the difference between Mother Nature, and the actual MOTHER of the baby, going: actually this pregnancy isn’t viable. For whatever reason, the environment isn’t right, the baby won’t be healthy, whatever. And saying not this one, try again next time, terminating the pregnancy for her own survival and the survival of her future children. There isn’t one, because the mother is literally the life giving god of this fetus. And men HATE that. This is an aside, but the wait time increase this woman talks about is insane. And that’s actually harmful to the fetus, (debatably) because there is science that suggests that the fetus can feel pain after 15 weeks. Having to wait up to 3 weeks for an abortion can potentially push you over 15 and actually cause the fetus to feel needless pain.

My wife is someone who was born to a pro life mother, but deep down her mother always resented my wife. My wife often recalls instances of her mother beating her even as a toddler which her grandmother witnessed and recounted to me as well. My wife is terrified for all the children who are going to suffer what she did from people who can’t get abortions and end up resenting their children. Most of these parents don’t give up their children for adoption because of the social stigma of their family and peers who would judge them. It’s just easier to take it out on the kids in secret I guess. Or they become deadbeat parents and emotionally traumatize their children who will go on to traumatize their children. Me and my wife are child free because she’s scared of being a mom. She thinks that it will change her and she’ll act like her mother.

I don’t understand how people consider an unborn fetus’ “right to life” more important than the mother’s already existing life and wishes. Pregnancy and childbirth are full of incredible risk for both mother and child and it can’t be overstated how much safer it can actually be to have an abortion rather than carry a pregnancy - especially with extremely common comorbid conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. You would be surprised how many women in this country have diabetes or high blood pressure by the time they are in their 30s and during pregnancy these conditions can newly develop or be exacerbated due to the physiologic changes of the woman’s body. I work for an OBGYN and we see it ALL the time - pregnancy induced hypertension and pregnancy induced diabetes are things that happen to women regularly and they’re dangerous. Especially for impoverished women who don’t have good access to continuous pregnancy care. Pregnant mothers can have seizures. Pregnant mothers can die. Pregnant women deserve the choice of whether or not to take on these risks. We deserve to be selfish with our own health and happiness. Also, the potential for human life exists at one cell but that doesn’t mean that that one cell is a human by any means - it doesnt have feelings or complex emotions or the ability to form memories or a nervous system to feel pain. All of which I think are important considerations. Why do people like this only care about single celled organisms when it comes to a fertilized egg. No one cares about killing other single celled organisms… or even other multi-celled organisms for that matter. No one loses sleep over the millions of invisible organisms like bacteria we kill everyday for the sake of protecting our health. And don’t we all kinda sort of wish we had been aborted anyway. Like…those of us who were unfortunate enough to survive the womb and childbirth are all miserable in our own unique ways. Many people just don’t want to bring life into a world like this! Sometimes I do really feel like abortion is a favor to the fetus as well in a lot of ways…

Sometimes death is a mercy. I really believe that. Heavy emphasis on the “sometimes” part, it really depends. Sometimes, the mother would choose to die in the place of her child if there’s complications, but the life of the mother should be more valued than the child in that case because she can always go on to have more kids in the future. In an ideal world, every unwanted pregnancy would be carried to term, and those children would be adopted. But reality doesn’t work that way even in cultures that are staunchly against abortion in any case.

I’ll never be able to take this issue seriously. Like most politics the loud minority overshadows all of the reasonable folks but it seems like every pro-life campaigner drank stupid juice since the moment they were a single celled organism. Why is it so hard to see the mother’s perspective? As a child raised in poverty I can confidently say I’d bear no ill will if my mother had me aborted because her quality of life would’ve improved massively and she wouldn’t be broken and beaten by age 40 after scraping everything she had together for her kids. Sometimes it’s better to end a life before it’s subjected to the harsh reality of the bottom half of the line.
