Loved it! I understand the concerns about watering down the brand or being offbrand or whatever, but I think it's perfect for casual Patreon content. Fwiw I don't follow any snarky online newscasters so this is a fresh style to me and I don't think any less of it just because others do the same type of show. If Channel 5 turned into this exclusively I'd be sad, but it seems pretty clear to me so far that that's not the intent and this is just bonus content.

This reminds me of the old Phillip Defranco format - it's off your brand. I fell in love with your method of getting out there like an anthropologist, letting the people on the ground speak, and letting the viewer come to their own conclusions. This feels like you're telling us how to think rather than letting us come to it. I also did not like the celebrity news crap - it's not interesting or important. Lastly, the format of googling "news" comes across as super lazy.

Short term, Andrew is much more charismatic and funny than most internet show hosts and you guys would likely rise to the top of the of the newcast space in a years time once you iron out the kinks. Especially if these move to YT/Spotify. But I do not think there is a path forward with this that doesn't have long term impacts on C5's cultural cache, credibility, and relevance in the news & pop culture. There's a good reason everyone from Lefty Gunplay to David Seymour will sit down with you and you have been invited to be in stuff like the Backstage Passes music video. You will rapidly lose that reach if you guys pivot into newcasting imo

One thing that really got me onto Andrew and Ch5 was the lack of commentary and opinion of the journalist. Just giving raw views into parts of the world and communities. I do like how in the ICE protest vid, you actually applied some context and backstory though, as it added a lot to the subject. I just hope to see you remain unique in us keeping your political leanings vague, and reporting non partisan.

Don't see a need for this type of show from you guys at all. There is a surplus of blogger like individuals doing this exact kind of video show already for every slice of the political & pop culture spectrum and without fail they cultivate often strange, clingy, and off putting communities and are largely a waste of time, not informing their viewers of much besides dinner table headlines (see: h3h3, Philip Defranco, InfernoOmni, penguinz0, Ben Shapiro, Sam Sedar, NYT, Hasan Piker, etc etc ETC). Basically just trying to say I think you guys are much MUCH better than this and should avoid degrading the brand & Andrew into a talking head by any means neccesary. No matter how much you try to polish and make it your own, I believe the newscast format is inherently degenerative to the minds of the viewers (myself included). All that said, I admire you trying something new and will always appreciate experimentation.

I really love your content Andrew, but as a European I'd appreciate if you guys did more on the United States post cold war foreign policy, because I do believe that the ugly pressures of global competition are heavely impacting domestic policies in the USA. Not a fan - a few classic C5 insights here but rehashing pop/political headlines is just kinda boring - the internet is full of people giving their hot takes on whatever new story pops up. The google 3rd page concept was interesting, though. Find more interesting stories that aren't getting air time - and develop them!

Thanks for the genuine question. I like the more personal, less planned and 'live' feel about this; Not everything needs to be super produced. It was still poignant and the topics and they felt important. A bit towards the later half it felt a little trolly, not towards any side (I'm Canadian) To give a concrete example of what I'm talking about that made me feel weird was around 9:15. I think this could have had a little more, information or things instead of a headline. Again thanks for taking the time and I appreciate yours and all of you over there's work and dedication to journalism. Have fun that's the most important part :)
