🕑 Added 2024-12-14 21:35:11 +0000 UTCAlright, here we finally go...
Here is our documentary covering the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with a particular emphasis on post-ceasefire solutions.
Shout-out to Agat & friends, Wael & friends, The Modern Insurgent from the U.K., Professor James Gelvin, and all the great editors here at C5 who came together to pull this four-crew project off.
Hope y'all enjoy the coverage. More coming soon!

As far as I’m aware the only ‘rebuttals’ inserted from the voice of the professor were historical facts, whereas the opinions and beliefs of the commander were left alone

I can't imagine how people feel about just having SO...MUCH....WAR happen in their home country FOR YEARS It makes me feel so bad for people that just want to live life but conflict between our dumbass leaders choose our fates
Julio Valerio
fuck dude.

It would be pretty hard to give the commander a rebuttal unless you somehow got them both together for an interview and I don't think that's very likely.
w4tty
a dubbed version would be lovely

I think it would be better if he didn't have a "scholar" give essentially a rebuttal to what someone is saying, without allowing that person to give a rebuttal back, yknow?
Jacob Serrano
is there anyway to verify the general they are interviewing. No hate, love the video, I was just curious.
Shawhin Layeghi
What do u think he could have done better to make this balanced?
who, me
What a simplifiying and in the end outright dumb statement.
Saturday a.k.a. Brown Town
great interview, however the professor seemed to be at a loss for words when discussing matters of international law. the “equivalent of war crimes” is, in fact, a war crime.
Charlani
Didn’t know this one existed. Looking forward to watching. Bro better not be a zionazi jiznotreal genocide denier. 🙏🏼

I think you're taking things in a lot better direction than current media does, but I don't think it's where i'd like it to be at

I think a lot of your YouTube comments on the Israel-Hezbollah Conflict video have some very valid points. I agree with people when they say although you claim to be unbiased from syndicated media, you will still elevate certain people's opinions over others. This feels like a slippery slope and as cool as it is that Channel 5 is expanding in size and scope, and doing more serious journalism, letting some professor interrupt that Hezbollah commander is an example of putting one's opinion over someone else. Not an example of balanced discourse Andrew. Please consider.

Thank you. Very informative and real.. Comig from YouTube and signed up for a yearly sub to support more indipendent journalism. Very tragic the whole thing. Those journalists getting targeted is a scandal on its own beside the rest. Happy to support Julias Fist too.

Great coverage. Thank you Andrew. Some feedback: 1. It is unscholarly to refer to mizrahi jews as Arab Jews. 2. Missing perspective: military/conflict history scholar. A military academic who studies modern conflict to give perspective on war specifically. Thanks bro!
Floodo1
Who took the original YT video down? Was it YT or C5 themselves?
Daniel
That censored Lebanese gentleman said it best. “Preemptive defense” missile attacks is a sorry excuse to start a stupid war/conflict that devastates your own people
Loren
this is what fucks me up about how Americans view this conflict, the tendency to over-simplify and choose who they think are the "good guys"... the reality is, there are no good guys.
Mark Holloway
Am I stupid, or is anyone else having trouble reading the English subtitles, because they’re overlayed by the other language subtitles?

AC - could you add this link up into the description of the video? Took me a while to find it down here & donate. Big appreciation for this documentary, insane respect for what you're doing.

Andrew, thank you for highlighting Julia's Fist. Been looking for way's to effectively donate.

Thanks for the recommendation 🤠

You made some good points. Iran is definitely the most active colonizer the middle east. Like yourself, not making excuses for Israel. Beyond just academic bias, it comes off as racist when groups like Hamas and Hezbollah are given a pass for terrorist behavior.
Cash Money
this will require multiple watches, holy fuck
Chris D'Antonio
It's parts 1, 2, and 3. Part 3 I believe is ~36:00 in (after the hezbollah commander interview)
Tyler Barton
you could have stopped at "organization"
Ryan Grucza
the idf is a terrorist organization by this guys definition

Would highly recommend the book "Enemies and Neighbors: Arabs and Jews in Palestine and Israel, 1917-2017" by Ian Black for an even more in depth understanding of the overall conflict between Palestine, Israel, and its neighbors. Please never relent, Channel 5!

Channel 5 always doing due diligence

The professor calling Iranian proxies resistance for Israeli aggression towards Iran is a pretty biased take. Irans influence spans beyond its anti-Israel proxies, that is evident through some of the videos that have been coming out of Syria recently, posters of Khamanei getting ripped down on streets in buildings etc. They have imperial aspirations whether Shiite, economic, or political, calling their influence just “financial support” doesn’t seem to be a complete description. Especially when they fund wars and groups that don’t directly conflict with Israel like The Houthi’s. I guess you could call Iranian regime support for the Houthi’s resistance against Saudi or Sunni aggression, but how does support for a Shiite military group in Yemen whose direct conflicts have perpetuated a decade long war in Yemen, deter you from Israeli aggression? The Iranian regime’s is also a fundamentalist theocratic autocracy with little support from their people. Not defending Israelis actions I’m just sharing a different perspective from the professor. I think the professor is mostly fair, but not on this subject. Western academics often tend to be too forgiving to anti western imperial actors.

Israel is straight up evil. This is their US>Iraq moment with a nice serving of genocide. What Hamas did was heinous but what Israel is doing is worse.

Thank you for doing stuff like snake church and then stuff like this. I think both are very important.

Absolutely brilliant. As much as I still love the more comedic old style videos, I fully respect you and your team turning your skills towards producing informative videos like this. The way you edit the background fact into the interviews makes understanding such complex situations so much easier. Thank you.

So is this technically part 3 of the last 2 episodes posted?

Amazing documentary, I'm only 30 minutes in but the interview with the Aljazeera journalists who suffered that attack; and the Hezbollah commander along side the historian too. Both inncredible and eye opening/informative.
