74 Avengers Vs Extremis

Below, the shipyard buzzed with activity. Extremis soldiers, glowing faintly from the heat coursing through their veins, patrolled the area. Near the docks, a team of technicians hurriedly set up broadcasting equipment such as cameras, satellite dishes, and an imposing array of cables running like tangled veins across the ground.
Suspended above the deck of the massive Roxxon Norco was the Iron Patriot suit. Steel cables secured it, holding it in place like some grim trophy. The suit gleamed under the artificial lights. Nearby, a control station buzzed with activity as workers moved around fine-tuning equipment and checking monitors.
Tony watched the scene intently. “They’re serious about this,” he muttered. “Broadcasting equipment looks high-end. They’re planning on reaching a global audience.”
“This is going to be their big declaration after all,” Natasha replied.
“Looks like sending Maya back worked,” Clint remarked, peering down at the shipyard.
Natasha nodded, her eyes scanning the thrumming activity below. “It feels like he’s assembled an entire militia just to guard this operation,” she said, her voice low but laced with steel.
Tony, brought up his holographic display and gestured toward the glowing red blips scattered across the map. “Every single one of those heat signatures is unique to Extremis. Killian didn’t hold back, this is his entire army.”
Rhodey leaned back in his seat. “Man’s got an ego the size of this shipyard. You’d think getting wind of us coming would make him cut and run, but no.” He shook his head in disbelief. “He’s banking everything on those Extremis soldiers. He actually thinks they can take on the Avengers.”
Tony snorted. “Classic villain mistake. Overconfidence. Underestimating us.”
“Alright, listen up,” Steve began, “Harry, Bruce, and Tony you’re on distraction duty. Draw as many of their forces as you can into the open here.” He pointed to the open area flanked by shipping containers from the ship. “Make as much noise and chaos as possible. Keep their attention on you.”
His gaze shifted to Clint. “Clint, I want you positioned on top of the shipping containers. You’ll provide overwatch, but keep your location fluid. Don’t let them corner you or pin you down.”
“Natasha, Rhodey,” Steve continued. “We’ll head straight to the ship. Our priority is freeing the President and securing the Iron Patriot suit. Once that’s done, Rhodey, you’ll join the main team and give them aerial support. Natasha and I will focus on apprehending Killian and making sure he doesn’t slip through our fingers.”
He looked around at the team. “We stick to the plan, watch each other’s backs, and adapt if we need to. All clear?”
A chorus of nods and murmurs of agreement followed. Steve allowed himself a moment to take in the faces of his teammates. “Alright, let’s do this.”
The quinjet hovered above the open space as it readied to deploy the Avengers. Tony’s volunteered to start with the festivities. “Alright, folks, time to make an entrance. I’ll kick this off with some flair.”
Before anyone could respond, the back ramp of the quinjet lowered, and Tony leapt out into the cool night air. As he plummeted toward the ground, he activated his thrusters, landing with a dramatic flare that sent a plume of dust and debris swirling around him.
Tony’s voice was amplified by the speakers of his suit as he shouted. “Hey, Killian! We’re here to settle the score! You didn’t think I’d let you get away with your little attack on my home, did you?”
The sudden proclamation shattered the cacophony of the workers, drawing the attention of every soldier in the area. Heads snapped toward the source of the sound as a ripple of confusion and alarm spread among the Extremis forces.
“Alright, let’s dance,” Tony muttered to himself, a smirk playing across his face as he raised his repulsors.
The first wave of soldiers opened fire, their bullets ricocheting harmlessly off his suit. Tony retaliated by blasting one soldier off his feet and sending another flying into a stack of shipping containers. Rockets streaked from his shoulders, striking a group of soldiers advancing from the left.
The Extremis soldiers quickly regrouped to Tony’s arrival. One fired a shoulder-mounted rocket, forcing Tony to dive midair to avoid the blast.
More soldiers poured in from all directions, their glowing veins marking them as Extremis-enhanced. Tony dodged, fired, and weaved through the onslaught, holding his ground but keeping them distracted.
Inside the quinjet, Bruce Banner took a deep breath, his hands gripping the edge of the ramp. He glanced at Harry, who gave him a nod of encouragement. “Time to let the other guy out,” Bruce muttered.
His breathing slowed as he closed his eyes, focusing inward. The familiar tingling began in his spine, spreading like wildfire through his veins. His skin flushed green, muscles bulging and tearing through his shirt as his frame expanded. A guttural roar erupted from his throat, shaking the interior of the quinjet.
The Hulk had arrived.
Without hesitation, the massive green took a thunderous leap as he launched himself into the air, the quinjet shaking slightly from the force.
The Hulk crashed into the shipyard below, landing in a crouch that sent shockwaves rippling through the ground. Shipping containers toppled over, and Extremis soldiers stumbled from the impact. Dust and debris flew in all directions, momentarily obscuring the giant figure.
When the dust settled, Hulk stood, towering and unyielding, his glowing green eyes locking onto the soldiers.
The first group of Extremis soldiers rushed him. Hulk didn’t flinch. He swung a massive hand, grabbing one soldier by the torso and slamming him into another with bone-crunching force. Without missing a beat, he grabbed two more soldiers, one in each hand, and roared as he ripped them apart.
The soldiers detonated in fiery explosions, their unstable Extremis cores unable to withstand the damage. The blasts washed over Hulk, but he didn’t even flinch, his skin glowing momentarily before returning to its usual green hue.
One particularly bold soldier leapt onto Hulk’s back, trying to jam a blade into his neck. Hulk reached over his shoulder, grabbed the man like a rag doll, and hurled him into a stack of barrels, which exploded on impact.
Hulk’s thunderous roar echoed across the shipyard as more soldiers closed in, undeterred by their comrades’ brutal demise. But the Hulk only grinned as he charged into the fray.
Next, Harry stepped to the edge of the open ramp. Unlike Tony’s grand declaration or Hulk’s thunderous arrival, Harry’s approach was quiet and elegant. The chaos below seemed to fade for a moment as he stepped off the ramp, descending not with a leap but a graceful glide, as if the air itself bent to his will. A faint golden aura surrounded him, his robes billowing gently as he landed soundlessly amidst the mayhem.
The Extremis soldiers turned, momentarily distracted by this new arrival. Harry didn’t waste the opportunity. With a flick of his hand, he conjured his trusted sword. The sleek, gleaming blade imbued with runes shimmered faintly in the dim light of the shipyard.
The first soldier charged at him but Harry was undeterred. With a fluid, almost dance-like movement, he sidestepped the attack, the blade slicing cleanly through the soldier’s neck in one elegant stroke. The soldier’s head hit the ground before his body detonated in a fiery burst.
Harry spun on his heel, as he deflected a barrage of bullets with a shimmering shield charm. The translucent barrier rippled but held firm, reflecting the muzzle flashes like ripples on water. With a calm wave of his hand, he sent a pulse of energy forward, knocking back a group of soldiers like bowling pins.
Two more soldiers approached, their bodies glowing with the telltale heat of Extremis. Harry’s blade moved like liquid silver, severing one soldier’s arm at the shoulder before decapitating the other in one seamless motion. Their explosions lit the battlefield, but Harry had already moved on, apparating a few meters away to avoid the blasts.
The battlefield was pure chaos as the Avengers unleashed their coordinated fury.
“Big guy, incoming at 12 o’clock!” Tony’s voice crackled over the comms as a group of Extremis soldiers rushed Hulk with heavy artillery. The armored Avenger flew low, releasing a flurry of mini-rockets that detonated at the soldiers’ feet, scattering them in a fiery explosion.
Hulk roared, his massive frame barreling through the smoke and debris. He grabbed one soldier by the leg and swung him like a ragdoll into another, the impact creating a shockwave. The first soldier exploded on contact, sending the others reeling.
“Nice assist, Tin Man,” Harry quipped, slicing cleanly through an approaching soldier with his enchanted blade. The Extremis-enhanced body detonated seconds later, but Harry had already apparated a few feet away, unscathed.
“Tin Man? Really?” Tony shot back, dodging a missile that had been launched his way. He retaliated by firing a repulsor blast, which slammed the shooter into a container stack. “You’re just jealous because I’ve got the tech.”
“Focus, you two,” Clint interjected from his elevated perch atop a stack of shipping containers. He nocked an arrow, took aim at a trio of soldiers attempting to flank the team, and released. The explosive arrow hit its mark, sending all three sprawling in a brilliant flash. “You’re welcome!” he added smugly.
“Harry, cover me!” Tony called out as he swooped down to engage another squad.
Harry nodded, flicking his hand to cast a shimmering shield charm around Tony just as bullets ricocheted toward him. Protected by the magical barrier, Tony landed and unleashed his arm-mounted lasers, slicing through the soldiers’ weapons.
“Tag me in!” Harry said, apparating beside Tony. Before Tony could reply, Harry cast a spell that sent a wave of freezing air across the ground, encasing several soldiers in ice. Tony fired a single repulsor blast at the frozen figures, shattering them into harmless chunks.
“Cool move,” Tony admitted.
The ground shook as Hulk leaped into the fray. “Smash time!” he bellowed, slamming both fists into the ground and creating a shockwave that toppled a dozen soldiers.
“Hey, big guy!” Clint called down, drawing another arrow. “Heads up!” He fired a special payload that exploded mid-air, releasing a cloud of blinding gas.
“Puny tricks,” Hulk grumbled, charging through the smoke undeterred. He grabbed a soldier attempting to flee and flung him straight into a group of others. Their combined detonation lit up the yard like a firework show from Clint’s explosive arrows.
Meanwhile, Harry and Tony continued their synchronized assault. Harry used his magic to levitate debris into the path of incoming soldiers, creating temporary cover, while Tony used the opportunity to pick them off from the air.
“Harry, up top!” Clint shouted, spotting two snipers taking aim from the high beams of a crane.
With a wave of his hand, Harry sent a surge of electricity up the metal framework, disarming the snipers and sending them tumbling to the ground. “Thanks for the heads-up, Clint.”
“You’re not too bad for a wizard,” Clint joked, loosing another arrow that found its mark.
The three ground fighters regrouped as a wave of Extremis soldiers charged at them, armed with everything from flamethrowers to rocket launchers.
“Tony, distract them,” Harry ordered.
“On it.” Tony rocketed into the air, flying in tight loops that drew the soldiers’ attention and their firepower.
“Now, Hulk!” Harry shouted.
Hulk grabbed a massive shipping container and hurled it like a baseball, flattening the entire squad in one go.
“Nice throw,” Tony quipped, landing beside them.
The battlefield quieted momentarily as the trio regrouped, sweat and dust covering their faces.
While that was going on, Natasha piloted the jet to a concealed location, tucking it away behind a towering stack of rusted shipping containers. Once grounded, she, Rhodey, and Steve disembarked, each armed with shotguns loaded with incendiary rounds.
The shipyard was eerily quiet compared to the chaos raging in the distance. Faint echoes of explosions and shouts carried through the air, evidence of the battle Harry, Tony, and Hulk were waging to draw the enemy’s attention.
Steve raised a hand, signalling a stop as they spotted a pair of Extremis soldiers patrolling a narrow passage between container stacks. The soldiers’ glowing veins cast an ominous light in the shadows, making them look almost inhuman.
“We take them quietly,” Steve whispered, gripping his shotgun.
The three moved in sync. But as they closed the distance, one of the soldiers turned abruptly, spotting them.
“Move!” Steve barked, raising his weapon and firing the first shot. The incendiary round hit the soldier square in the chest, causing him to stumble back, flames licking at his torso.
The other soldier lunged at Natasha, who sidestepped with the fluidity of a dancer and fired point-blank into his leg. The Extremis-enhanced body began to heal almost instantly, but before he could retaliate, Rhodey delivered a brutal shotgun blast to his head, ending the threat.
“Keep moving,” Natasha urged.
“Let’s hope Harry and the others keep the noise up,” Rhodey muttered as they continued toward the Norco.
Steve glanced back at the diminishing glow of the distant battle. “They’ll manage. We’ve got our own mission to finish.”
The team moved swiftly, dispatching the last of the Extremis soldiers guarding the Norco’s interior. The team worked in perfect tandem, Steve shielding them from incoming fire with his shield while Natasha and Rhodey neutralized their attackers.
They reached the Iron Patriot suit that was suspended by thick steel cables in the center of the ship’s deck.
“Nat, cover me,” Steve said, stepping forward to inspect the cables.
“On it,” Natasha replied, her sharp gaze scanning for any remaining threats as she provided overwatch.
Steve swung his shield, severing the cables one by one. The suit lowered to the deck with a metallic thud just as Rhodey reached the president, who was held inside the Iron Patriot suit.
“Got him!” Rhodey called out, hauling the president to his feet and checking him for injuries. “You okay, sir?”
The president nodded. “Get me out of here.”
Climbing into the Iron Patriot suit, the HUD flickered to life as he powered it up, the familiar systems booting with a reassuring hum. Rhodey then led the president toward an extraction point they’d scouted earlier. Once the president was safely secured, Rhodey returned to the deck. “The president is secured, I’m good to go,” Rhodey reported over the comms.
“Go help the others,” Steve instructed.
“On my way,” Rhodey replied, the suit’s repulsors roaring to life as he took off, heading toward the front lines to join the assault team.
Moving swiftly and silently, they navigated the dimly lit corridors of the ship to reach the control center. When they entered the room, the found a chuckling Killian waiting to greet them. “You have no idea what you’re dealing with.” He declared. Before they could respond, Killian’s body began to glow, his skin radiating an intense, fiery red. The temperature in the room spiked, and an unsettling grin spread across his face.
“Get down!” Steve barked, immediately raising his vibranium shield as Killian unleashed a torrent of fire from his mouth. The inferno roared toward them, the searing heat filling the room.
Steve crouched low, using the shield to block the flames, the vibranium absorbing the impact while Natasha pressed behind him.
Killian’s bodyguards charged at them as soon as Killian’s flames subsided. Steve used his shield to deflect a barrage of blows, countering with powerful strikes that sent the soldiers reeling, while Natasha’s agility allowed her to weave between attacks, landing devastating hits with her electrified batons.
Killian stayed at a distance, his body glowing ominously as he watched the fight unfold. Suddenly, he unleashed another wave of fire, forcing Natasha and Steve to dive in opposite directions to avoid being scorched.
“Keep him busy!” Steve yelled, slamming his shield into an oncoming guard, sending the soldier crashing into a console.
“I’m trying!” Natasha retorted, vaulting over a fallen soldier and delivering a kick to another’s head. But the fight wasn’t turning in their favor. Killian’s regenerative abilities made him a relentless foe, and every time they landed a hit, he shrugged it off as if it were nothing.
Steve landed a powerful punch on one of Killian’s guards, but it wasn’t enough. The soldiers were tireless, their Extremis enhancements making them a brutal challenge. Killian capitalized on the chaos, another fire blast forcing Steve to raise his shield again.
“This is getting out of hand!” Natasha said, frustration creeping into her voice. She rolled to the side, avoiding a fiery strike that left scorch marks across the floor. “Killian’s Extremis-enhanced!” Natasha shouted into the comms. “We need backup now!”
Almost as if on cue, a loud crack reverberated through the control room. Harry apparated in, his sword already drawn, and his eyes fixed on Killian.
“Go,” Harry commanded. “I’ll handle him.”
Natasha and Steve hesitated for only a moment before regrouping and turning their attention to the remaining soldiers.
Killian turned his fiery gaze toward Harry, his lips curling into a sneer. “You think you can stop me?” he taunted, flames licking at the corners of his mouth.
Harry raised his sword, his expression unflinching. “Let’s find out.”
Harry stepped forward, his sword gleaming in the dim light of the control room. Killian sneered, his body glowing with fiery veins as he charged at Harry, fists ignited with the raw heat of Extremis.
Harry sidestepped the attack easily and slashed Killian’s back. Before Killian could recover, Harry slashed his blade across Killian’s arm. The limb fell to the ground with a sickening thud, but within moments, it began to regenerate, the glowing sinews knitting themselves back together.
Killian gritted his teeth, backing away as Harry advanced, his movements unrelenting. Every swing of Harry’s sword was a calculated strike, severing limbs or cutting deep into Killian’s torso. Each time, Killian’s Extremis enhancements healed the wounds almost instantly, leaving him gasping but still standing.
“Is this the best you’ve got?” Killian growled, lashing out with a burst of flame from his mouth.
Harry barely flinched, conjuring a barrier of water that extinguished the attack before it reached him. He moved like a shadow, ducking under Killian’s desperate swings and countering with devastating blows.
“You’re out of your depth,” Harry said coldly, slashing at Killian’s leg and sending him stumbling to the ground.
Killian scrambled back, his eyes wild with panic. He swung a fiery fist, but Harry deflected it effortlessly, disarming him, quite literally, with another precise cut. Killian’s screams echoed through the room as his arm regrew, the regeneration slower now, his body visibly straining to keep up.
“If it weren’t for your healing,” Harry remarked, “you’d have been dead a thousand times over by now.”
Killian attempted one last desperate lunge, but Harry stepped aside with a flick of his hand, sending him crashing into a wall. Harry followed up with a sweeping strike, forcing Killian to shield his neck instinctively.
The Extremis-enhanced man was reduced to playing defense, and even that was falling apart. Each attempt to regain the upper hand was met with a brutal counter. Harry was an artist of battle, and Killian was nothing more than his canvas. A canvas now shredded and burned, barely holding together.
Despite his regeneration, Killian was slowing, his body showing the strain of repeated injuries and constant healing. His breaths came in ragged gasps, and sweat mingled with the molten glow of his skin. Harry, by contrast, remained poised, his sword steady as he prepared to deliver the final blow.
Killian staggered back, his body glowing brighter, veins pulsing like molten lava beneath his skin. The Extremis coursed through him, fighting to repair the countless gashes Harry had inflicted. His breaths came in ragged gasps, each exhale releasing heat waves that shimmered in the air around him.
“You think you’ve won?” Killian snarled, his voice distorted by the heat radiating from his body. “No more lies. No more masks. You wanted the Mandarin?” He spread his arms wide, fire licking at his hands, a twisted grin spreading across his face. “You’re looking at him. It was always me. I AM THE MANDARIN!”
The glow of his body intensified as Killian gathered every ounce of power left within him, preparing for one final, devastating assault. But before he could release it, there was a sharp pop.
Harry had vanished.
In an instant, he reappeared behind Killian. With a smooth, fluid motion, Harry swung his blade. The silver arc gleamed in the light of Killian’s glowing body as it sliced cleanly through his neck.
Time seemed to pause as Killian’s head separated from his body, his wide-eyed expression frozen in shock. His body slumped to the ground, the glow fading rapidly as the Extremis could no longer sustain him.
Harry stood motionless for a moment, his blade dripping with ash as Killian’s remains began to crumble into nothingness. His voice was barely above a whisper, but the words carried weight.
“That one was for James.”
The silence that followed was deafening, broken only by the distant sounds of the ongoing battle outside. Harry exhaled slowly, his grip on the sword tightening briefly before he dismissed it with a wave of his hand. He glanced at the ashes scattered at his feet as Killian’s body disintegrated like Molten Lava.
Harry activated his communicator, “Killian’s down,” he informed the team. “How are we looking outside?”
Tony’s voice crackled through the earpiece. “About time, Potter. Things are wrapping up nicely out here. Rhodey and I just cleaned up the last wave. Hulk’s still... well, Hulking, but he’s manageable.”
“Hey, big guy!” Tony shouted, flying past the rampaging green giant, who was wielding a massive metal beam like a club. “Try not to sink the whole dock, will you?”
Hulk roared in response, slamming the beam down on the final Extremis soldier, who erupted in a fiery explosion. The shockwave rattled nearby containers, but Hulk barely flinched.
“Well, that’s one way to finish it,” Clint muttered from his perch atop a stack of shipping containers. He nocked an arrow, tipped with a small but potent explosive, and let it fly. The arrow struck true, obliterating the last remnants of the broadcast equipment.
Moments later, Natasha, Steve, and Harry emerged from the Norco’s control center. The smoldering battlefield stretched before them, scattered with the remains of Extremis soldiers and broken equipment. Steve took it all in “Good work, everyone.”
Tony landed beside him, his faceplate retracting to reveal a smirk. “Did you doubt us, Cap? This was just another Tuesday.”
“Tuesday or not, it’s over,” Natasha said, holstering her weapon. She glanced at Harry, her expression softening for just a moment. “Nice work in there.”
Harry gave a brief nod. “Team effort.”
As the group regrouped, Hulk began to shrink back into Bruce, who dropped onto a nearby crate, looking both drained and satisfied. “Remind me to pack some extra pants next time,” he muttered, drawing a chuckle from Rhodey as he landed the Iron Patriot suit nearby.
Rhodey’s visor lifted to reveal a tired but triumphant grin. “Well, we survived. That’s always a win in my book.”
Steve stepped forward, his voice steady and authoritative as he addressed the team. “We’ll do a full sweep, make sure there are no surprises left. Then we head back.”
The team spread out, methodically securing the area and ensuring there were no loose ends. The smoldering wreckage, though chaotic, was now the site of yet another victory for Earth’s mightiest heroes.

I will wait for your opinion on the next arc.

Ok got to admit that was kind of anti climatic. But that is what you get with overkill. Won't say any more until read the next arc then give full feed back. But yep there needs to be new solo project for harry away from the main time line maybe leaning sorcery after winter soldier. As that I can see after that the story branching out away from the timeline more. It feels like harry no is stepping out on the world stage where magic has now taken huge effect on the timeline. For this arc magic made it much easier and more like exremis was a joke.

I hope you had fun. It's been a busy few weeks recently for me. Enjoy the new chapter and next week we start with the Thor: Dark World Arc. As you can see, I didn't want to extend the arc a whole lot more. I ended up cutting a lot out of the Iron Man 3 story regarding Tony's self-discovery. I think that was not needed. What did you think about Harry being the one killing Killian? I felt that as this arc progressed, Tony didn't have much of a personal stake in facing Killian. And Tony didn't even face Killian even once. With Harry, it felt more personal. Writing the fight scene was fun after all the character stuffs that we have been doing recently. For some reason, in this arc, I wanted to have more fight scenes but there wasn't that many places to put it. Also the last chapter of this arc is kinda stand alone world building. It doesn't have any relation to the Iron Man 3 plot line. Well maybe the end credit scene but that's also a stretch. So I want to ask you guys, where does this arc fall for you lot? I would rate it a 6-7ish out of 10. But I want to know what you lot think?
