Six Flags Live (Second Gate)
🕑 Added 2024-09-04 07:00:07 +0000 UTCOver 20 years ago, Six Flags made a grimy, MTV-style television pilot where frosted-tipped dudes talked music, current events and midriffs.
It was an unpleasant, barely watchable disaster, i.e. a perfect topic for us.
Here's a link to this piece of shit:

My guess for why it was sought by the NRA is one of the 20 hosts was somebody’s kid and they wanted to know if it’ll come back to haunt them or not
Libby
He said that and I was like “last second gate contained multiple mentions of sex toys by both brand name and function”

I’ve never seen one with corners but I’ve seen a couple that I found alarmingly pointy looking

I’ve been suffering from dick corners my entire life

GOODNESSSSSSSSSSSS what an episode. Had a bit of this type of feel a couple of months back. Was up at Angel's Point overlooking Dodger Stadium... ran into a photo shoot and inquired what they were shooting. They said it was for JNCO. Shocked that the brand was still alive. Guess Cory and Nader are still buying clothes.

“Is this the filthiest episode we’ve ever done?” I dunno, Mike, I’d say it’s tied neck-at-neck with every episode of the show lately for that distinction. :P

Watching Six Flags Live brought to mind a quote from the late/great Bea Arthur: “I could vomit just looking at you!”

What did I just listen to? ARRRRARRRARRRARRR

Damnit Jason! Your drop in jokes are pure gold sometimes. The bit where they’re talking about Jason doing a monologue from the lazy river and he starts one then makes a sound like he’s drowning 😂. Pure gold !

Excited to hear another Oklahoma reference! The long storied history of Six Flags and Premier Parks (also my home park Frontier City) is definitely worth a Google. I also went on many trips to Six Flags Over Texas. SFL perfectly captured the vibes of 2001 Six Flags.

Increíble twist.

I tapped out at 8 minutes mark but only because I was so sad to learn that green tattoos are the hardest to remove. 🥲

Scott razzin’ on these hosts gave my spam some wham (ew)

Watched the show, haven't listened to y'all's take yet. But I think you've found it. This is a great example of the turning point from 90s nostalgia to 00s brain rot. I am embarrassed watching this. But I'm glad I watched it, so I can confirm my wasted life of that era.

Anyone remember Willa Ford on Pants Off Dance Off? That was my (then boyfriend, now husband’s) and my favorite Friday night basic cable show to watch after going out.

I was a paper boy bike and all, and I don't think I made $200 the whole time I did it.

Judge John Hodgman frequently mentions scrapple.

Joy Ride is legitimately good.

that's probably a good thing nathan. :) can't say the same for myself

Dang, you're right! Clearly I don't use YouTube much.

If I had the money to do so, I’d capitalize on the resurgence of this going viral and pitch them “SixTok” where it’s basically them doing all the TikTok video trends on vertical format screens placed throughout the parks. Then you do localized accounts to go live on TikTok and do a current era version of this show but tasteful and actually promoting the park and how much fun it is to be in it while doing audience participation games and giving away prizes like Fright Fest tickets or something like that.

I just scrubbed thru bits and pieces of that pilot episode and I lost some IQ points

Seeing early 2000s Six Flags Over Texas in the video took me back to going there every week with my cousins. I was like 6 to 10 when I went so not nearly a teenager but my cousins were older so I definitely remember a lot of that teen culture around, KISS FM and Radio Disney playing all the corporate pop stuff. I don’t know if it’s nostalgia but I feel like Six Flags was so much better back then.

1.37K views when the episode dropped. I'm always curious how being linked to on PTR affects that.
