First Night 2013 with Jamie Kennedy (Second Gate)
🕑 Added 2025-01-01 08:00:11 +0000 UTCJamie Kennedy produced and hosted his own New Year's Eve special in 2012.
If this is new information to you, let me ask ...do you think it went well?
Also, "with Jamie Kennedy" in this episode's title does not mean that he guests on the episode. We wish!

I realize this comment is very late, but as someone on the inside at Tubi I can tell you that they likely did not pay anything up front and he'll only get paid for the time people actually watched.

Just putting this out there: the Jamie Kennedy voice is the funniest weird Guy voice y'all have ever done, and I could barely breathe from laughter by the end of this thing. All-timer episode!

No matter how many times I listen I can only hear “bulldozing Archimedes”

I have a picture of a Garfield cocking I want to share on here (in the packaging) since it seems too spicy for the Facebook group. I know I sound like a bot right now, but assure you this is legitimate.

Same. I was like, “Why they got Jaimie Kennedy? I’m pretty sure everyone, definitely Jason, will have problems with him due to his politics.

Oh thank goodness, more talk about walnuts. Paid content about walnuts.

Same! “With” is a very powerful word in podcast episode titles

My brother in law is much younger than me and couldn’t believe it when I said I hadn’t seen “Son of the Mask.” He told me that I need to see it and that the music scene is “hilarious.” He was being genuine when he said this.

Good gosh! I just thought this was from 2002, not 2012!

I'm sorry, Jason, but we both know it takes 90 minutes, maybe 2 hours in traffic, to get from Philly to the Poconos. Come see the fuck hotel and all the other weird trash we have to offer!

I grew up in Bell Gardens, home of the dearly departed dinosaur-themed car wash down the street from my home on Gage Avenue. The Commerce Casino is right by Bell Gardens and it is an eyesore. I went there once with a friend who was going to get his paycheck when he worked there and, my god, what a sad and miserable place. Not to mention the smell which was as if the carpet hadn’t been washed since they got rid of smoking. Thank God the Citadel is out there holding Commerce down. The Bicycle Casino is much more appealing by a country mile and also looks like a giant Sephora bag compared to the lifelessness of the Commerce Casino.

Jessi Cruikshank was a big name in Canada! Fun fact, when MTV came to Canada, because of our weird government-imposed cable television regulations, over 50% of the content had to be Canadian-produced talk shows. To get around this, they had Jessi and pre-Schitt's Creek Dan Levy hosted "The Aftershow," a panel show that would play after episodes of The Hills. People loved it so much it ended up airing on American MTV as well.

Thank you for calling back the giant animatronic tree from China that lives with Jason

Another great episode, but I was watching the 1989 Macy's T-Giving parade and I really hope you comment on Fred Travalena's musical number as The Joker some day. There is no chance anyone else ever will. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vRfBel_Fk Happy New Year. Update- This whole parade is pretty good. Alf is a commentator, weird Marvel float with a musical performance, NKOTB sing about the cheeeeeeeldren... Loony Tunes musical number with Horrifying Willard Scott Porky Pig impression... life is too short to miss this. I think you'll like it a lot more than Downward Spiral Jamie Kennedy.

Watching this every year is my NYE tradition omg

I used to work with David Marquez who produced this show. He was working for the television station at the time. He said it was a Murphy’s Law of a show because nothing was rehearsed. He runs Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, produced Wrestling Society X for MTV, and now he’s the Executive Producer for MLW. He trained me when he was producing NWA Pro East, an attempt at a National Wrestling Alliance territory out of the NY/NJ area. I was a PA for those shows and occasionally an interviewer and segment producer for promos. David was an awesome producer and very professional. The crew he was forced to work with on that NYE show was not.

I misread the title and thought they got Jamie Kennedy as a guest for a retrospective of his own special.

I've been to that hotel in the Poconos but I didn't stay in the room with the giant wine glass because it was crazy expensive. Even the normal room I stayed in with a heart-shaped hot tub was very expensive. The rooms are disgusting because the tub is surrounded by carpeting and even the walls are carpeted. I'm sure they are full of mold. I thought it would be cool and retro but it's just really depressing. The rooms do have real fireplaces but you have to burn the fake wood that doesn't actually give off heat.

Jason is totally right. When someone says “deviant” they are typically QAnon right wing weirdos. Someone I used to be friends with who became anti-vax and right wing uses the word a lot.

Nice surprise! Was just thinking about this special lately. There's also a wrestling connection with this since Championship Wrestling from Hollywood was airing on the same channel. Stu Stone would do occasional commentary there and the owner of CWFH also directed this special. On a bummer note, my new years resolution of tuning out political talk/discussion has already been broken 90 minutes into the new year
