Everything Dooku does in this episode is motivated by this senator grossly mistreating his own people. Everyone was starving to death living in horrible conditions. Dooku, as a Jedi, had a huge heart. And a huge amount of hatred for corruption.

Dooku, for all of his immense faults, is incredibly principled. He has immense loyalty to his beliefs and very rarely strayed from his own moral compass. Super racist through and through. Like believes humans are the master race kind of shit. Everything he does is to ensure only humans are in power across the galaxy.

This episode really gives you insight into Dookus arc. The early seeds of his distrust for the republic and the corruption. The Jedi became much to political and did serve the senate when it should have served the people. Dooku tried fixing it the wrong way. But he raised a fantastic apprentice who would become the best Jedi of the age. If he didn’t die it would have changed everything.
