🕑 Added 2024-11-28 17:00:13 +0000 UTCHey guys!
I believe this is the very first two-part episode that we have gotten in Avatar, and HOLY SHIT! It honestly felt like a miniature movie!
Entering the spirit realm was a mild twist that I really didn't expect this show to take, but I'm really not mad at it at all! I think they executed it really well. What this episode showed me was that this show will cover A TON of different themes, and I'm stoked to see them all!
This episode also proved that the execution of this show is off the charts!
Love you all,
Alex

To answer all of your questions about real spirits and demons, yes. I’ve seen paranormal activity myself. I work at a place that is haunted

To answer Alex's question about dad bod: its sexy asf, I love a muscular and thick man, who I can cuddle with without feeling like it's bones. They're warmer, makes me feel safer, and I just love a man like that.

j watching on my lunch break

The blue tattoos are an indicator of air bending masters. He was one the youngest masters ever. Probably aided by the fact he is the avatar.

That's the problem with the movie is like it has bad acting but that's not the worst part they go through the store way too fast because they only have 2 hours so you won't like the movie at all guaranteed! Same director that did The village.

Was brought up in one of the books, cant remember which one, but it was explained :)
Nightmareman99
Damn never mind then I imagine that was brought up in Korra or one of the books? Been ages since I’ve seen either
Oliver
Sure. Usually every episode in the first season is a story that begins and ends within one episode. But in the first two we are in one scenario one „arc“
Payton Clary
No they aren’t…..?
Payton Clary
They have and it’s cause he’s been to the spirit world
Oliver
Yeah I liked monk Gyatso. I am not a fan of the acting of Yue but I like what they made in the show. Also kuruk was better established
Oliver
I rewrote the comments to spoiler free but u guys read it. It’s not only my opinion it’s a general opinion of the majority of fans out there. I am not saying that I did not enjoy it but these things really made no sense. Also sokka wasn’t in the spirit world here. He just vanished and came back and didn’t know what happened.
Nightmareman99
By what I remember it seemed very rushed but I did like the inclusion of monk gyatso also the princess yue stuff but I don’t recall if that was throw into this arch or one of the others
Nightmareman99
I don’t think they ever truly explain why iroh can see into the spirit world but comparing him to others who have it’s something to do with being in tune with one’s self and the world around him. Like other monks he has been to the spirit realm

Soooooo good 👍 👌 love this show

Honestly my whole perspective on the live action show (and just live action adaptations in general) is that they should at the bare minimum be as good or better than what it’s adapting. Netflix ATLA didn’t meet that imo.

Oliver, yes you are spoiling stuff. Also, Sokka gets pulled into the Spirit World in this very episode by the spirit itself. There are many ways people get into the spirit world. It's hardly a stretch that it could pull both him and Katara in too.

Oliver I don't know if Alex wants to watch the Netflix series but this are a lot of spoilers!

okay i change my mind i like the recaps

The blue arrow is a sign he's a master Airbender. Nothing related to being Avatar. People know he's the Avatar because he's the only Airbender left. They said, in the Avatar cycle (water, earth, fire, air), the last avatar was fire, so the next one has to be air. So to stop him the fire nation killed all the Airbenders but Aang got away.
Maximo
I did yawn
Oliver
In tloK it is established that only by strongly meditating and being spiritual it is possible to obtain the power to travel to the spirit world that’s why it was such a big deal that iroh could see aang and the dragon and no one else🤷♂️

Also, dad bod because I don't want to cuddle a statue at night lol my fiancee is slightly chubby but it's the squishyness that we both have that I love about us :)
Chess Red Eagle
It's not lore breaking. Non benders go into the spirit world all the time in both shows. It just changed the story a bit.
Oliver
I need to say that I did enjoy it!!! Binged the whole season in one sitting but I have to stay with the majority of fans there. They should either stick to the source material or leave it untouched. Lot of great story moments went flying in the first S.

"Is this a two part episode? I guess that would make sense. That's why it's part f*cking one." Best thing I've heard today. I love you, Alex lol I think this exact same way haha
Oliver
Nah nobody was expecting a 1:1 Not ganna talk about the omashu episode. I like the approach especially with zuko but they screwed up big time. Not sure if that’s confirmed but if they unblind toph then I am furious
Psychotic Panda
Like its own version. It’s actually done pretty nicely. It’s silly to expect a direct copy of the animated series. Very excited to see other 2 seasons of that version as are many others :)
Oliver
And no the first two episodes of the series are also two parter
Oliver
How do we think Netflix handled this episode and the spirit world…..😶
