It is first anime we are watching and the next one should be Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood as that one you will love. Prepare to cry, laugh and enjoy all the feelings cause FAB has all of them and more. One of the best stories and animes in the world :)

Hey Alex, love ya, never really asking you to change, but do mind some jokes in this series despite it being a kid's comedy cartoon. The KISS face paint joke on surface level was suppose to be just a joke, I get that, but keep in mind that these "fictional nations" are based on real life cultural things. The War Face Paint Sakka wore being modeled loosely as such. Not negative criticism, just suggestion going forward.

Well it's not a question of how old the show is, a lot of people say it only counts as anime if it was animated by a Japanese company, but then there are some American made shows that are considered anime so it gets messy.

Anime has been around for a long time. Dragon ball came out in the 80s and Ik there were some in the 50s. But yeah it don’t really matter if you consider this an anime or not

Fun facts here: The different types of bending in this show are based on actual forms of Chinese martial arts. Water Bending for example, is based on tai chi. Also one of the big names behind this series is Dave Feloni who also worked on Clone Wars.

Book 2 is my favorite of all time. Book 1 is a great introduction to learn more about the characters, Book 3 is a great finale, but Book 2 is the reason why this is one of the greatest shows of all time.

Alex, technically no ATLA isn’t an anime because it is an American animated series, but it does have a lot of the same tropes and themes as many anime share. It’s probably as close of a bridge between American cartoons and anime as it gets.
