The one thing that I don't like about the movies is that they're trying to make see like Harry and Hermione end up together when JK Rowling said herself that Ron and Hermione end up together in the end, and in the seventh book Harry says that he only see's Hermione as a sister

Lord of the Rings is definitely the better film series, but only because the Harry Potter movies leave out so much from the books. That's why I'm excited for the HBO Harry Potter show which will hopefully include all the scenes and characters that we didn't get to see.

I think it's natural Hermione and Ron got together. Ron is funny and a lot of times a smart guy in the books. I can understand someone falling in love with him for those reasons. On the other hand Ginny and Harry getting together also makes sense. Ginny is quite a badass in the books and considering she is surrounded by a nurturing family with also silly funny brothers, she finds attractive Harry, who has a complicated past and present, who faces death multiple times and who is brave nevertheless. While Harry finds her attractive because she is a badass and again, having a family like hers, probably comforts him. So it makes a lot of sense this pairing happened this way. As you say Harry deals with a lot of shit already so I feel him and Hermione together, even though they are both brave and smart, would've been quite dramatic.

Alex, I implore you watch the Lord of the Rings in its full extended editions. Would you only watch the 4 most important Harry Potter films? no. So why desecrate a perfect trilogy by only watching the watered down theatrical versions? Personally, as a big Harry Potter fan, I think the Lord of the Rings is a great series that needs to be explored in its entirety, not some shortened version made for low attention span dorks. I am only saying this because of some of the comments said now.

Yes, of course the Lord of the Rings movies are better than the Harry Potter movies. Just go and watch the theatrical release of the fellowship of the ring, that's a 10/10. Do all of them if you enjoyed, and THEN do all the extended editions. That second viewing plus the extended version makes that rewatch an easy 11/10. Pls pls pls just watch them

Personal opinion of course, but the lord of the rings is the greatest series of movies ever made. Ever. (If you watch them you really need to watch the extended versions. Trust me, the pacing is good enough that you won’t even realize how long they are)

Lotr has a better world building and the music is better. But overall I would say Harry Potter is beter. I can watch these movies every year without a problem. But lotr is a little bit boring if you ask me. But the Hobbit is fun to watch. So deciding between Harry Potter and the Hobbit would be hard for me because I love those movie series both.

As someone who grew up on Harry Potter and not Lord of the Rings, LOTR is far better than the former, even though I've loved HP since I first watched them, so long as you have a long enough attention span and attention to detail. Even without those its still better IMO. The scenery, writing, music, characters, stakes, worldbuilding, buildup/payoff were all perfected in LOTR. Also all 3 movies were filmed simultaneously and they really did make the trilogy feel like one seamless story in such a way I have not seen elsewhere... Oh and once you do decide to watch them, be sure to do the extended versions- they are much better than the theatrical releases

It doesn’t show it in the movies, but in the books, the winner of the Goblet of Fire won a hefty payment in gold, which Harry gave to the twins, and they then used to help open their shop.

So in the books, harry gives Fred and George his winnings from the goblet of fire. He didn't want it, and they needed it more. He gave it to them to invest in their shop and follow their dreams. And I think their gratitude for that act, is a part of what made them follow harry through anything.

Both series have a special place in my heart and are quite different. However, The Lord of the Rings is on top. First-time watchers never fail to cry. That said, I cry every time I watch them, and I have seen them too many times to count.

The rating system is so weird in the USA 1,2,3&6 are PG and 4,5,7&8 are PG-13. Even weirder is the UK where Venom is rated at a 15 and Deadpool is also a 15. I honestly think the rating system is just really inconsistent

If you remember, Voldemort is a purist when it comes to witches/wizards of the wizarding world. He believes in only "pure" blood sorcery... no muggle children in his world! Snape being the Half-Blood Prince is a huge hint as to why he's an amazing double agent. One of his parents is a muggle. He is everything the dark lord is against but managed to infiltrate the Death Eaters and purist ideology. He's very talented, much like Hermione and Lily, as you can tell from his skills with potions. I never read the books but I took on the belief that Snape wanted to teach Defense against the Dark Arts because he knew about such views. Hagrid did say there were very few, if any, "pure blood" wizards anymore. Basically, magic would die out if Voldemort was able to complete his mass genocide mission. I love LOTR and the Hobbit trilogy much more than the HP franchise... and I love the HP franchise. I do feel bad for poor Tom Felton (Draco). His "attractive" years were all during HP. He did not age well. Same with Rupert Grint (Ron). They grew into awkward adults instead of growing out of being awkward teens. It's also really sad knowing most of the older, legendary actors have now passed. It really broke my heart about Dame Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman.

It gave him the ultimate power on being able to portray such a complex character and was hands down the best decision ever to do so!

So LOTR vs Harry Potter is a hard comparison for me… I’ll say they are my top 2 favorites… but I wouldn’t necessarily compare them to each other cause there are moral similarities but some big differences (also cause the first LOTR was released in 1954 and the first Harry Potter was 1998 in the US - book wise).

i dont see how or why people compare HP to LOTR, it's 8 movies compared to 3, 6 if you count Hobbit. But HP follows the same 3 protagonists and the location never really changes either, it's not like star wars that has 3 different trilogies following different characters each trilogy. 3 main protagonists, 1 main antagonist, 8 movies, 1 country, 10 years between the 1st and the 8th movie, grossing almost 8 billion. I dont see how HP isn't the GOAT movie franchise all things considered.

Regarding the question of "where did Fred and George get the funds to start the business", it's not mentioned in the movies but in the books Harry gives them the money from his victory at the Tri Wizard tournament from the Goblet of Fire, and they use that to finance their business. Also you said "I guess they could use magic to conjure some money". That is not true, creating money with money is strictly forbidden, which also applies to creating food out of things air and some other things. Also if they wizards could create money then they wouldn't need to own businesses in the first place. Chaos would exist in a world where a group of individuals could just conjure money out of nothing.
