Also, I feel like the whole vibe of this is to remind everyone that all these people are still real teenagers and therefore at some point they will get very horny. And probably in the fire nation it’s just that much stronger since they have lots of beaches and literally energy burning inside them.

This is so funny because I watched this show when it was airing and I would have been 12-15 years old so I’ve had crushes on damn near every character at one point or another. I can’t hate on anyone for feeling the same. The ones you gotta worry about are those who like them BECAUSE they’re 14!

All good man, it’s just a cartoon + they look much older than they say they are so it’s all good. Imo in cartoons the look is whats more important than age and irl the age is ofc the only thing that matters over how old they look. And i hate when people say you are weird just cause the writers put that age. Like it’s not even real bro, could’ve chosen any age. So that’s why i usually don’t say when i think someone is attractive in a cartoon or anime. And to be real, you can think however you want cause in the end it’s not real after all. So you can think anything is hot in a cartoon, all good. Ofc everyone won’t think the same but that’s what i think. I see stuff in cartoons/anime and irl completely different!

If you make a clearly adult looking character, I really don't give a fuck if the show says they're 10 years old. The person that chooses their age is the author, not genetics. They say these characters are super young so kids have an easier time relating to them, that's it. They know full well they don't look like kids, but saying they are is what makes kids watching it react like "Oh, they're like me"

Only in cartoons where they clearly don't look their age. Take the live action show for example. The people that played them looked WAY younger than the characters and they were literally older. If a character looks, sounds and acts like an adult, and they aren't real, then I don't give a fuck. Blame the people that made the characters, don't blame the people being attracted to them.

This may come off as very, possibly VERY fucked up but I don’t think people here will even care anymore if you say stuff about said characters, because literally everyone is thinking the same thing. This was a show meant for kids and kids can have attractions to characters just like adults can. Also as what other people said, many of the characters look WAY more matured than what their actual age is, and this whole show was made in a different time

@Kelsey Roberts Nigga I had a crush on Katara when I was like 12 and I'm certain Ty Lee gave me a boner at some point back then too. I can still acknowledge now when I'm 23 that she and others are attractive for their age, especially considering the artists for the show intentionally made them look more mature than what you'd expect 14-17 year olds to look like. If Ty Lee is 17 she doesn't just magically become beautiful once she's 18. Don't confuse that with sexual pursuit. Are you assuming the creators of this show had other thoughts in mind during this episode? do keep in mind that there is a heavy anime influence on this show by the creators and well, the culture in Japan is very different then here in the U.S - I'm not saying it's better or worse, just that it's different. You can disagree all you want on that, also- the age of perpurty is around 14-16 years of age. Why are we pretending like kids at that age don't wear bikinis when at the freaking beach. Maybe it's those that see it in a negative way that have the problem here?

Where on earth did you see that? From every single piece of canon media, it's been noted that Mai is 15, and Ty Lee is 14, same as Azula. They all went to school together.

Times really were different not too long ago. Teenagers used to be allowed to show skin and be "developed" which to be fair isn't that inaccurate to an actual 16-18 yo party, especially at this time. Millennials were the last teen generation to go to parties in mass numbers before the internet took over everyone's social life. Our perspectives changed suddenly when all ages began communicating with each other, and now we see this as taboo. Mai is at least 16-17 years old since Ty Lee said she was an only child for 15 years, which means before her baby brother (who we saw in Return To Omashu) was born. In that episode he's at least a year old, walking already, so she would have been roughly 16 at that point, which means now she might be 17. Wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume that Ty Lee is about the same age as her, though perhaps younger (though let's be honest....those boobs are not a 15 year-old's). Zuko is likely 16-17 in book 3 as well, which makes Azula at least a few years younger, 15-16, though she gives off very authoritative vibes so probably the higher end of 16.

If we talk about the Brazilian law Alex could speak his mind. Because there the age of consent is 14. In Argentina even 13. It's just logical that if you look at some of the characters in this series. That they look older then the shows says they are.

Actually they were way more modest, like covering fully so as to show no skin. The creators did that so when the Nick executives said to tone down the clothes, we got the current designs
