Maybe for rewatches but for first timers it is undeniably 100 times better to go with release order. That way you always are aware of all the details and are not lacking any context plus you avoid spoilers. Chronological order has a lot of spoilers for later shows but is great for rewatches. I watched nearly everything as it was coming out (release order) and did a full rewatch marathon in chronological. Chronological is great for rewatch but if you’re watching first time like Alex is then release order is the way to go. He should watch them as they came out.

About Andor, I didn't dislike it because it was slow. I just never really cared about the Andor character at all so having a show centered around him is just something I'd never watch anyway. And I didn't really care for them giving him that droid buddy to talk too. It seems every new star wars thing tries too hard to force a connection like Anakin and R2/3PO or Chopper and Ghost Crew.

About that arc with young Hera, to someone who doesn't know, if they watch in chronologic order they'll instead react to Hera in rebels and be like, hey that's the character from Bad Batch that was friends with Omega when she was younger. Mandalorian, in a way, relies on the viewer having watched rebels first and references some rebels characters, and not having that knowledge makes it way less enjoyable than if u know what happens in rebels.

Just adding back on, for added context for you. Disney cancelled Clone Wars, then they started development on Rebels straight away. (Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, and Rebels released in 2014. And it was actually the first part of Star Wars content we got from them. It was Rebels season 1, then The Force Awakens.

If you use your LOTR logic for Star Wars, you would want Rebels first lol. LOTR would be OG trilogy, TH is the prequels, and TROP is a show. Hera doesn't sound like Hera, so he could easily miss it, hell he misses shit all the time lol. He could easily miss Gregor since they only say his name a couple times, if that. Theres no way that he will remember Kanan, at all. This is just one of those things, where for a better first time viewing experience, he should go the route where he gets the most information, which is Rebels. This is definitely the way they intended, because they build upon previous projects (Mando building off Rebels, Bad Batch building off CW, Rebels and the Sequels). Ahsoka is literally a Rebels spin off. Obi-wan uses aspects from Rebels (inquisitors and what they are). Book of Boba Fett builds off of Mando, which again builds upon Rebels. Acolyte should lowkey be skipped :skull: I actually haven't had time to watch Skeleton Crew yet so idk about that. He can't do Tales of the Empire yet, because he doesn't know who Morgan Elsbeth is, and shes from Mando, which is again, based on Rebels. The only things he should watch, are honestly, Rebels or Andor. Andor is completely stand alone from the other ones, and Rebels would give him clear context to continue with the other series.

Rebels should go first because it was released before the other shows and therefore has a lot of context to add to the other shows. After that you could go either way, continue with animation (BB) or start with the mandalorian and continue to other live action shows.

Andor is easily the best Star Wars show ever made from a writing standpoint, the only reasons I’ve ever heard of people not liking it is that it’s slower. It might have less action per a minute but the writing is miles above everything else. The rest of the live action other than mandalorian season 1 has pretty crappy writing and it’s obvious the creators didnt put as much thought into those other shows.

Because when you watch stuff in release order you make sure you’re up to date about everything going on and avoid spoilers. He needs the context from rebels. Chronological order shouldn’t be used in franchises like SW and marvel for example unless it’s for a rewatch. There’s an entire arc in BB that revolves around a main character from rebels (Hera/Ryloth arc) and it will be such a pity to watch him react to that without knowing who Hera is.

Rebels lays the foundation for a lot of shows and is the bridge that connects prequel era to original trilogy era. In the case of bad batch there are massive spoilers and rebels references which he won’t get. Spoilers about Hera kanan and Rex are in BB. Not to mention that he won’t understand the importance and gravity of appearances from Hera and kanan if he hasn’t watched rebels first. Also to say that BB is leagues better than rebels is insanity, in fact most Star Wars fans agree that rebels is better than bad batch.

I do highly recommend Legend Of Korra! It's not on par with Avatar and it has it's faults, but the storylines are very interesting (some more than others) and to see all the impact and influence the original Avatar team had on the world the inhabit! It's very interesting to see! The show did take some creative liberties to the lore which do have contradictions to the original show and I'd still say the original Avatar is easily the best but Korra is worth checking out regardless!

Why would you not want to watch a story in chronological order? The only reason to watch something in release order is if release order and chronological order are the same thing. Not saying Rebels isn't amazing or a good option, but since Bad Batch exists and continues the story of clone wars from their perspective, I can't see any reason it shouldn't be the next thing. No matter how much I want him to watch Rebels, I believe Bad Batch to be the correct choice. We star wars fans sure are stubborn and outspoken about our opinions, lol. The best order to watch those in, time-line wise, would be Bad Batch, Rebels, then Mandalorian. I didn't care for Andor at all. Bad Batch starts where Clone Wars ends and has the same animation style as season 7 clone wars. I'll be fine with either Bad Batch or Rebels being first, but I'd HIGHLY recommend Bad Batch first, especially since they are familiar characters. But, he can't watch Mandalorian without first watching Rebels.
