It is funny how you missed every hint that you dont need a bite to turn. From the 2 officers when they first tried to release Randell, to Randell turning, and to Shane. But I find it off how no one else knew. Like I feel this would have been known to people, who would have broadcast it.

See, this episode marks a very key point in the series. Because until now you didn’t turn until you were bitten. You first see this in the prisoner because he died from a broken neck but turned. Then Shane. And that last scene showed people that had died from wounds other than zombies now turning and rising. So basically the apocalypse got significantly more massive overnight.
